I think that Bush meant to attack Iran and just misspelled it.

Iraq and Iran are very similar.
Power is nothing till you use it.

We don't have any cards to play in Iran right now.  We have lost all credibility to act in Iran because of a series of events that goes all the way back to the dark ages (1953) when we toppled the gov't.  Installing the highly corrupt but US friendly Shah, for the single solitary purpose of protecting Oil interests.

BTW...its relatively well known that Iran gave the US an assist in securing it's borders with Afghanistan.

Not so much in the 80s, but in 90s, Iran worked to moderate, democratize, and improve relations with the US, that work ceased due to the "Axis of Evil" speech, and the invasion of Iraq.  Try asking for a little love from Iran now.

But it's not all bad news in Iran, W will soon be gone, and the next president couldn't possibly be more inflamatory towards that country.  Equal maybe, but not more.  And the next president, in all likelyhood, will actually engage Middle Eastern countries and work on the Palestine issue.  As opposed to slaughtering hogs, or whatever is it our "president" does.

Artiem

My post didn't exactly spell out the actual nation I referred to as "#2"

It's North Korea. Iran's a joke, threat-wise. North Korea most definitely is NOT.

By that logic, I suppose that one could make the argument that North Korea was a "joke" until it actually detonated a nuclear weapon.  Which would seem to me, to be all the more reason for Iran to actually want one.

Take these countries seriously, know whats on the ground, these problems can be solved.  Treat them like a joke, they'll show us how wrong we are.

Artiem

When I say Iran's a joke, I'm talking about their current military capability. In a conventional war, it would be negligible. Were they to develop nuclear weapons, which they're no doubt attempting, they would be a threat to Israel, but they're a long way from developing a delivery system that could reach the U.S. or even western Europe. North Korea, on the other hand, has a massive, highly trained, well-equipped modern military, complete with air and naval forces, and can most certainly strike some of our close allies (Japan, S. Korea, etc.) with existing delivery systems. I'm certainly not advocating that we ignore Iran, but NK is ruled by a despotic maniac whose paranoia makes him an immediate and deadly threat... IMHO :)

"To give you an idea of how frightfully out of touch the Boy King remains, even after this blast of truth and common sense, here's an excerpt from Bush's radio address last Saturday:

"The group declared that such a withdrawal would `almost certainly produce greater sectarian violence' and lead to `a significant power vacuum, greater human suffering, regional destabilization and a threat to the global economy,'"

Directly after 9/11, we were told Osama bin Laden wanted U.S. troops out of the (Mulsim) holy land (Saudi Arabia).

We have since responded by leaving our troops stationed there, and invading two more Muslim nations.

Explain to me how this is fighting the war on terror? What's really going on is the U.S. government is flexing its muscle at this philosophy, and possibly taking further advantage of the opportunity to secure military bases across the middle-east in a pre-emptive attempt to secure energy resources in the event we find ourselves in a real war down the road--with China.

And we are stirring up more and more recruits for the radical faction in the process. More attacks on the U.S. by these radicals is almost certain. But this will just give a government more of an excuse to further take control of the region.

Sometimes it seems that we, the citizens of the U.S., are just pawns in this game of global power plays.

Here is something for you to chew on Newbie.  Usama Bin Ladin is not wanted for the 9/11 attacks.  Why you might ask?  Because there is no hard evidence linkin Usama to the 9/11 attacks.  FBI Director Robert Mueller, in a speech at the Commonwealth Club on April 19, 2002, said: "In our investigation, we have not uncovered a single piece of paper - either here in the United States, or in the treasure trove of information that has turned up in Afghanistan and elsewhere - that mentioned any aspect of the September 11 plot."   If you are like me and think we need a new investigation into the 9/11 attacks then you should check out your local Truth group, Tulsatruth.org.
