The 'Mercan people are clearly behind liberalization of the chronic.  So why do we continue to allow Congress to overstep its authority and use the Commerce Clause to subvert the will of the people?

Because the liquor lobby has about a bazillion dollars in the kitty to keep marijuana illegal and the PTL contingent doesn't seem to understand the hypocrisy of winking at booze and condemning mj as a "narcotic."

Interesting that pot is a plant (i.e. grows naturally, or was "created") whereas booze is manufactured by man -- albeit using natural processes for the most part.

I believe the conquering European invaders brought the liquor to an advanced civilization,  In return they traded us tobacco, mushrooms and the loco weeds, along with the new addiction "Legal Gambling".

Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

You left out disease.  And Thanksgiving... and bathing...

The English were quite anxious about water. Not only did they think it was unhealthy to drink too much of it, they also believed that it was very dangerous to bathe in it. The English at that first celebration probably washed their clothes before the party; the Indians probably washed their bodies. It took centuries for English settlers to adopt the strange Native American practice of bathing.

mmm... mushrooms.

***As for gambling, I find it strange that a city trumpeted as the "Buckle of the Bible Belt" would have problems with gambling... if people here like stereotyping "drunken injuns" maybe we should also start stereotyping the christian hypocrits in this city as "gambling DelGiornos."

What were we talking about?  Oh yeah... pot.

When you're taking care of someone who's terminally ill, you see the folly of drug legislation...

Somebody who has no appetite is given a prescription of pain medication that has to taken "after eating a full meal."

A patient who has severe problems with nausea is given medication that "must be taken with a full glass of water."

Moralists who want to outlaw cannabis clubs are used as pawns to preserve the monopoly of drug companies who make millions off the terminally ill.

Mod, why are you CENSORING posts relevant to this thread, BONG HITS 4 JESUS.

The phrase refers to a current case before the US Supreme Court.  Are you so IGNORANT or are you just being a JERK?

Yep.  Ban me NOW.  Your pompousness is WORTHLESS.

I've had the very unpleasant experience of watching a close relative waste because they couldn't keep food down due to a terminal illness.   I don't know if medicinal marijuana would have helped in the case of my relative, but after witnessing what people in this condition go through it seems inhuman to deny the terminally ill something that could help ease their suffering .

I have to agree with you there. It's senseless to allow people to suffer because of what I think must be the pharmaceutical lobby against marijuana. It boils down to one thing; money is more important than people in many cases.

Here's a poll on medical marijuana on FOX 25:

Medical Marijuana Poll

As of now it shows 91% of respondents support medical marijuana.

Alcohol may also be a natural product. Somewhere I read about chimps in the wild that prefer to eat decaying fruit because of its alcohol content. (bananna liquor?) They have wild group orgies feasting on the stuff, pass out and do it over and over till its all gone. Chimps gone wild! Anyone else know if thats myth or truth?
