Mercenaries?  Gimme a break. [:(!]

Personally, I don't have a problem with it.

Okay AOX, you've changed my perspective, from now on it will be:

"Come on in and take advantage of our tax-supported largesse even though you have no respect nor appreciation for our culture, language, laws, national security, and sense of personal responsibility.  And don't worry about contributing to our income tax system, there are really wealthy people we can fleece to pay for all the free services you are about to receive.  Oh, and by the way, we will continue to send only Amercian Citizens to protect you and your family while you enjoy your prolonged stay in our country."

You have changed my opinion so much Aoxymoron that I think I will start a free barge service and bus service to help the poor pregnant mothers to get to Parkland in Dallas safely so they can give birth to American citizens who will eventually join our military.

My understanding is that we have an agreement with at least one Latin American nation to reimburse them a specific dollar amount for each soldier they commit to our "alliance."  There are probably many more payoffs going on than I am aware of.

Because gaining entry to this country can be a matter of life or death I support this proposal.  But it does seem to fly in the face of the kind of social justice we were seeking during the Vietnam era when we went to the lottery system to select draftees.

Before the lottery system it was mostly working class kids that fought and died in Vietnam.  Today we find ourselves in the same situation.  The Iraq war is largely being fought by working class kids.  If our Chicken Hawk leaders faced the prospect of sending their kids, or God forbid, serve themselves, we wouldn't be there.

Well, an empire is a collection of nations, after all.

I am all about saving as many Iraqis as possible from the bloodshed in that corner of the empire, and want to control the homeland's southern border.

The Iraqis, meanwhile, are being blown to bits signing up for day labor, but they still line up.  They are murdered by the scores in police stations or at recruiting offices, but they still line up.

I think we should offer the Iraqis a chance to help us round up folk in the American desert.  They can stand the heat.
