I am a painting and remodeling professional from Tulsa Have lived here all my life. Lately meaning the last five plus years I have seen the downhill slide of housing and an increase of older homes in neighborhoods in Tulsa and alot of houses getting condemened when they shoulndn't have. I see houses everyday that could have been saved in nice neighborhood all boarded up. These houses don't need much. A paint job and some minor carpentry plus a little plumbing work at least to fix them. This should be enough to keep from getting them condemened and selling them to someone who can and will get them up to par. Look around Tulsa look at your houses, the city is falling apart and we can do our part to fix it by taking care of or homes better, and taking our neighborhoods back from the cities control!!!

Porky

I so agree with you Jethroe but the problem is the cost of the home and not being able to get ones money back out of it.

In BA you can buy a new home for as low as $100,000. This is the same amount some of those old homes cost after the repairs are done to them.

I see you point Porky As a matter of fact I know this point is the big reason why this is happening. But There is a formula and the formula takes capital and you can still get your money back in return on your investments on some of the older homes I've seen it done by a few of our loyal Tulsans that want help more than they want the Big dollars that come form other sub-urban investments. My Hat is off to those guys that are doing that!
I know this is a small thing compared to big developement picture but It's a big issue for the economy and small businesses like mine to thrive on. I love Tulsa It's my home after 39 years I would like to live comfortably in it too.
