In an effort to spread awareness of climate change, a group of students and I have decided to organize a community-based event to be held at Veteran's Park on April 14th, the National Day of Climate Action, that may best be described as an "environmental fair."  The event, titled Climate Action Day, will include numerous local environmental organizations sharing and distributing information, local organic farmers and other producers promoting local industries, and will feature several speakers well-informed on the subject of climate change and methods of reducing human impact on the environment.

Although the main purpose of Climate Action Day is to educate and inform, many fun activities are planned as well.  Several Tulsa musicians have agreed to perform various musical styles including jazz and bluegrass.  In order to promote alternative methods of transportation, we will work together with local bicycle clubs to organize a bike ride which will begin near 91st & Riverside and conclude at Veteran's Park.  With locally produced food, music, a bike ride, and all else that a Tulsa Park has to offer on a spring day, we are sure that the event will attract many to attend and gain awareness of climate change from the various information provided.

We are now seeking participants for all aspects of the event, including possible speakers, environmental organizations, and co-sponsors.  Climate Action Day needs speakers to discuss climate change and its effects, alternative energies, sustainable lifestyles, and any other topic that may interest the public.  We would like to invite your organization to set up a booth at the event and help spread the concept of sustainability and to promote your industry.  If you are unable to participate, though would like to help our cause, your organization could be named as a co-sponsor of Climate Action Day for a small donation.

I would be glad to answer any questions that you might have.  Please contact me by phone at (405) 512-9771 or by email at gogreenbiz@yahoo.com.  Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Derek Smoots
