Redevelopment of 31st?

Nearly every home along the north side of 31st from Utica to Lewis is for sale. Unusual to say the least. Seems like one home was already demolished. Anyone know what's happening there?

I think the "demolished" home you were thinking of burned down a few years ago.  Unless theres another one I missed.

I don't see what kind of "development" could happen here tho besides erecting new McMansions.  I dont imagine the area could be re-zoned as commercial.

I would like to point out that the houses going up just East of 31st and Lewis are more like mansions than McMansions.  The McMansions are generally cookie cutter houses in subdivisions of 3 or 4 design variations.  Those houses are architecturally unique in their areas and probably originals.  I'm not saying they are the finest works of art since (insert famous architect here), but they certainly are not McMansions.  A typical south Tulsa McMansion would be a 1800 Sq. foot house on a 1/4acre with a two stall garage and a brick facade with a wooden fence along the property line and a stone wall around the subdivision.

What is up with the sudden rash of "Mc" everything on the McForum today?  The "Mc" prefix is clever in many applications, but its over use has quickly reversed its cleverness and any meaning that it once had.

Nothing about 31st looks McMansion to me...  Although I disagree with the definition you give.  Typically a McMansion is 5,000 square feet constructed at as low a cost as possible in order to get as much square footage as possible, and it usually has lot of ostentatious details such as a wine room (For a non-drinking family), gourmet kitchen (For the family that hates cooking), and a 4 car garage...all smashed on a 1/8 acre lot in the middle of a neighborhood of 1800 s.f. older homes.  

I think the 31st Street sell off is just a strange coincidence.

I retract my statement on what a McMansion is.  I guess I was thinking of are nice houses in those new sprawling subdivisions, cookie cutter style.  Your's sounds much more like a mansion.

A Mc Mansion would start around  8 to 10,000 sq ft and up.

Course I suppose one could argue that there is a distinction between "Mc Mansions" which would be on the "small" side and being a bit more chaeply built, and "Starter Castles" usually being larger and of a higher quality.[]

The one on 109th is the ugliest.  I recently heard the term "starter-castles" which I think is a better discreption.
