Of course, we might be better off without KFAQ altogether.  I think it's fitting for Medlock's "political career" to end there.  His whole political play book resembled something he stole from KFAQ anyway.

Painting himself into the corner he's truly from is a win for Tulsa, IMO.  No longer just a blowhard, or a blowhard semi-legitimate political candidate; he's going to be a KFAQ more-nutty-than-a-payday-bar blowhard.  I love it.

Even for conservatives, MaDoG was an embarrassment.  He should have stuck to what he was best and most believable at when he was at KRMG: comedy.

He already had a credibility problem with a lot of people even before the casino mess.

Between him and Master Bates Tulsa listeners are going to be causing wrecks all over town from falling asleep at the wheel.

At least it would be interesting.  Gwen's hoarsy rasp is not going to carry the show.

yeah, she sounds like an orgasm gone wrong.

You guys are just mad that Medlock will be on the air every weekday morning ..... because you all have a problem with the truth that he speaks.

he has some good things to say, he just lacks any tact in saying them.  also, these days all of his comments drip with sarcasm, and while thats great for blogs and message boards, the intent falls short on radio.

I've been a listener to talk radio since the 1970s, when KMOX-AM in St. Louis pioneered the format (ask Rush Limbaugh). So I have a pretty good idea what will succeed or fail, based on the voice, pacing and persona.

Delgiorno had a great radio voice. Yeah, he was a hypocrite and a loose cannon, but that voice was made for the airwaves. Same for Gwen.

I know some people wanted Michael Bates or Medlock to be the new emcee on KFAQ. I've heard both of them. Let's just say that their voices were tailor-made for the print media. It makes more sense for them to be second bananas.

I think Gwen will do really well with the a-hole gone. She has had a really rough road there with him talking over her and putting her down for years. Now it's her show and Brian will obviously be supporting her with anything she needs.

Chris IMO is very good on the show and no one can bring more insight on what is going on around town in government issues than Mike Bates.

Looking forward to listening to them starting Monday and what a breath of fresh air not only for Tulsa but for KFAQ as well.

Congrats to Gwen! [^]

Puh-leeeeeese.  It is PAINFUL to listen to Gwen, who spends as much time stumbling over her words as she does trying to make a point.  Medlock's on-air personality is a shade better than a door knob's.  He may have a good or two make every now and then, but that is another issue.  The two of them together are the radio equivalent of dumb and dumber.

It is hard to judge how good Gwen will be...she has had so little air time because the previous host did all the talking. The few times she did the show without him, she tried to do things they way he did them.

If she makes the show hers, and does things her way and in her style, she could be good. She is not afraid of stating her opinions and she could find lots of good causes to talk about.

Now if the show is just the Medlock show and she plays the same role she always has, it probably won't be as entertaining.

Hopefully they will have more locals on actually talking about local issues instead of demagoguing (sp?).  I look at the expertise and insight of folk on this board alone and think any number of Tulsanowers would be excellent guests and would have something to offer.

Yeah, Medlock with his flawed "connect the dot" flow charts.  Turns out he was wrong about Christiansen.

That reminded me:

Did you ever happen to listen to Jim Bohanon?  I believe he took over Larry King's radio gig after Larry left for CNN.

He was on KRMG late at night before you moved to the area, but I believe he is syndicated throughout the U.S. from the D.C. area.  Great radio presence and he used to talk about having a face made for radio.  They simulcasted him one night on C-Span and one of the first things he said was: "See I told you I have a face made for radio."

A member of TulsaNow's board of directors has been a guest on DelGiorno's show every week for the last three years. But I suspect that isn't what you had in mind. :)
