If tripping over their pants legs isnt enough to discourage kids from this stupid fad, maybe parents can give their kids more motivation:

The really extra-baggy pants have been gradually phasing out of catalouges of companies with college-age target-markets for about 5 or 6 years now.  By now, this has taken the trickle down fashion effect to high school and middle school aged kids.  The baggiest clothes in style today are more culturally directed to certain lifestyles and ethnic groups.
So, all of you old folks can find something else to beat your cain about....

My favorite thing is when you see a person layer their pants and tuck their shirt in on one side so that you can see:

Tightie Whities
Boxers
Mesh Shorts
Baggy Jeans

All when its 104F outside.  I seriously considered running the red light as he walked in the crosswalk in front of me, just to see if you can smush someone with that many layers of padding.
