Okay, I know some of you are wondering if all I make for dinner and lunch is reservations. [;)]

I have a daughter who goes to a cheer gym near Broken Arrow, so I have an hour to kill between 7pm and 8pm a couple of nights a week.  I've been using that opportunity to try different restaurants I usually wouldn't drive out to from mid-town on a whim.

Last night, I needed to get a marine battery charger, so I tried the Islamorada Fish Co. inside the Bass Pro in BA.

My wife and I decided we will have to go back out when we have time to sit at the bar, get liquored up and watch the fish tank for a few hours, then stagger over to the hotel next door. [:P]

A little pricey, but well worth it.  Great atmosphere, and the service was very attentive.

Just a shame we couldn't attract something like that in our warehouse district. [:(]

FYI you can stop by THE Islamorada Fish Company just off of Highway 1 on your way from Miami to Key West.  I confess I didnt stop, but I saw it and took note.

I like it as well, great food and atmosphere at an affordable price for such a nice place. Their menu selection is also very good and the service is excellent as well.

Can't say I have been in or near BA in the past several years.  Where is this place?

Look off to your left as you drive under 161st St. (Elm) next time you drive out on the B.A. Expressway.

BPS has created quite a little commerce village out there.  Steak-N-Shake, Holiday Inn Express, Runt's BBQ, Lone Star, Los Cabos- what else did I miss?

I heard that runt's was no good.  nothing like the original or osmething to that effect.  Some things just cant be franchised I guess.

I wasn't all that impressed with the "Isla" fish house.  It is no where as good as the original.  The Key Lime pie was good, but the rest is just not inspired, the menu is tired and the execution of the food is pretty much lame.  The bartenders have always been friendly and fun to talk with.

Runts was okay, nothing really special, I did like the old movie house atmosphere.  The one place in that part of BA that I have liked lately has been the Fried Pie store.  It is in the shopping center at the corner of Kenosha and Lynn Lane behind the Coney Islander.  The fruit pies are killer,  the breakfast pies darn good, the meat pies are all made and cooked to order.  The fruit pies, I haven't tasted one that I didn't like, the blackberry is the killer one for me.

Fried pie store, great one more calorie-laden place I gotta check out before I die. [;)]
