For those of you who are interested, I have posted the audio of Fred Thompson's speech to the Lincoln Club of Orange County on my blog: http://tysonwynn.com/?p=447

I saw some YouTube on it. It looked like Fred needed a nap or something.

He always looks that way.  Some conservative pundits have described him as having the face of a Bassett Hound.

I think you could set off an M-80 under his butt, and a minute later he'd turn to you and say: "Did you hear something?"

I'm not sure whether that ultra-laid-back vibe is going to be helpful or hurtful for his campaign.

That is, if he actually makes up his mind about running.

If he jacks around too long, he's going to be an also-ran like Wesley Clark was: good resume, but dillydallyed around too much and missed the bus.

I don't blame him really for laying back.  At this point, he can sit back, watch, and pontificate as a non-candidate.  He's also getting pretty good free publicity (or even being paid for it) subbing for Paul Harvey and appearing on talk shows.

The early campaigning is silly and I think could be a liability for more than a few candidates.

I don't think he'll jump in until a few candidates drop out to help fund-raising.

As a McCain supporter from back in 2000 I have to say that I like Thompson. If he ends up running he has my vote.

McCain could have had my support in 2000.  Unfortunately, he accidently walked into that GOP slaughterhouse, never to return.  McCain has lost it.

Don't know enough about Thompson, other than that old historical stuff that gives me a negative impression.  Have no idea where he is now.

My money is on Fred Thompson and Ron Paul right now as the only chances the GOP has.

Fred will be my choice if he decides to run. He is, of coarse, very popular here in Tennessee. I heard some reports on Fox news this morning about his speech at the Lincoln Club not being up to par.

You do realize that Rupaul is a guy right?

I'm not entirely down on the GOPs chances.  IMO, Giuliani and Romney pose special threats to the Dems chances.  The South is going to vote GOP, especially if Hillary or Obama is running.  Giuliani and Romney pose a threat to the Democratic Northeast and West Coast.  All the GOP needs is one or two states in the Northeast, and it's a problem.

Surviving the GOP primary is another issue.

It's all going to come down to Ohio again.  Deja-vu...
