When she had first taken on Bush, Sheehan was a darling of the liberal left. "However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used," she wrote.

You two are being very insensitive. /sarc off.

The democrats have done to Sheehan what they do best--use people to meet their needs and abandon them after their usefulness has expired. Kinda like republicans and how they treat their religious supporters...
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

She learned that by and large, politicians are (expletive)s only interesting in furthering their own goals.

I coulda saved her a lot of time and money if she'd just asked me.

Say what you will about Cindy, she took on Bush when his poll numbers were a lot higher and he had very little opposition.

SGrizzle, I want to save a lot of time and money, can you tell me what can be done about Tulsa?

She was a grieving mother and picketeer who caught the eye of the media and became a tool for the Dems.  Grief over a tragic death will turn some people either into a hermit or an activist.  She became an activist.  More power to her for speaking out strongly for something she believed in whether or not I agreed personally with her and the way in which she went about it.

The Tillman family, just like her are now pretty much irrelevant to the Democratic party.  Something which conservative pundits had predicted was coming for a few years.

Tulsa?

How about changing your perspective and negative paradigms.  Has it ever dawned on you that you might be the one who is out of step, not the rest of us?

Fire everyone who is currently or has previously served office. Elect a businessman like George Kaiser to work the budget, maybe be mayor. Cut the city council district sizes in half. Merge the city and county government.

That's a start.

Thank you SGrizzle.  I've been looking for someone who could cut to the essentials.

You know I was thinking about Cindy.  She was really a pioneer and doesn't have the personality to go the long haul.  I absolutely understand her disappointment, but I'm wondering why it took her this long to figure out how things work.  We are all in debt to her for what she has done.

She's also learning what public figures know, that living in a life in public isn't much of a life.

Jammie

I feel SO sorry for Cindy's loss.[:(] But the fact is, that since we no longer have the draft, her son HAD to have enlisted. There was quite a span where young people would enlist to get $$ for college and other perks. It was still a noble cause, but now that people have had to actually go overseas, some seem SO surprised when their own child is sent over. DUH!!!
Adopt an older pet. Help them remember what it feels like to be loved.

Feh.  Hardly a pioneer.  Plenty of protestors came before her.

People manage grief in different ways.  She turned activist, which is not uncommon with tragic or pre-mature death.  Look at all the various foundations and laws which are named after people who died young, either violently or from some sort of disease.  Those are the result of grieving parents who turned activist and who want to keep the memory of their child alive by trying to prevent other deaths.

I'm sure part of her moving on has to do with realizing most all politicians are power-hungry, self-serving scum.  The other part is, she's probably at a different place in her grieving now and is ready to move on.

Another good reason I don't run for office or seek a career in the performing arts, or achieve the level of fame of certain of my idols and respected heroes. My privacy means too much to me to sacrifice like that.

Our good friend was arrested today throwing a fit int he senate chamber:
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/cindy-sheehan-arrested-in-outside-petraeus-hearing-2007-09-10.html

I was listening over a late lunch.  As the general was wrapping up and talked about Iranian influence someone started shouting "LIAR LIAR THATS A LIE!" and was escorted out with their entire party.

Shortly after there was another outburst, the NPR commentator said that she was "being forcibly removed and making it very difficult" and noting that the other people made their point and cooperated.  The ruckus went on for sometime as she continued to scream and shout at the podium and the chairmen made a comment about prosecution under ยง35016 of the DC code and that it was not a forum for public speech. Eventually she was pushed out of the room.  This group was so obnoxiously I couldnt even understand what they were talking about.

Very shortly thereafter another Cindy threw a hissy fit just before the Ambassador started in "We want our troops home, send them home, bring them home..."  She was walked out in a matter of seconds, it did not appear that she made any resistance.  Later in the broadcast she could be heard shouting the hallway - that is when she was taken into custody.

There has also been a report of injury logged by one of the protesters and a complaint against the capital police.  Wonder who that could be.

Cindy, your 15 minutes is up. Move along.  Honestly, it seemed more like she was just doing it because other people did.  There was no heart in her whinny little protest and well rehearsed rant.

Well, she was right in that we got no oil from this war.

Good job Cindy!

Of what? How to make a bad situation worse? Kaiser won't be able to get elected dog catcher after the way this river tax has been handled. What we need to do is stop being a government of business and get back to the business of government of, by, and for the people, not the private special interests.
