Others say the Master Blaster is just one of many problems at the park.

"The rest seems to be under poor maintenance and poor construction, and it's just going downhill," said parent Amanda Vance.

Sound familer?

Plus they pay less in rent that bells did. They've had people getting injured for decades.

But we KEPT big splash.

Anyone know what year Big Splash opened?

Found a mention of the park, but no dates.

Summer of 1984.

If they weren't already sunk, they are now. I have a feeling that the owner was REALLY skimping on maintenance for years.

All it takes is one visit to see how bad Big Splash has become. Deferred maintenance, uncaring employees, high prices, poor food and drink selections and overall substandard quality will eventually lead to the closing of this once great attraction. Just like Bell's, it seems that nobody cares.

Look who owns it -- The Murphy's. All they care about is the almighty dollar and keeping their no compete business and shady deals with the fairgrounds board.

Drove by last weekend - you couldn't even see the water for all the people. I wonder if the health department takes water samples on a regular basis? Yuck.

Big Splash-I remember it well. Me and a group of friends went many times after it had opened and in the years we were in High School, and it was just plain neat.

WAS is the key word here!

Chris

I worked there for my first job about 9 years ago and it was indeed run horribly. The word was the owners, the Murphys, only visited once or twice a year, they really could care less. I actually haven't been back since that summer and I can only imagine what it's like now.

Terribly run down and mismanaged. Rusty lockers, dirty water, and worn out lawn chairs are just the beginning. Does anybody inspect the wooden scaffolding and steps to the water flumes? I would bet that there is plenty of rotten wood!

Lots of happy memories. Sneaking a bottle in, getting into small altercations with people from different schools, hanging out with my favorite friend Lisa-Lisa. Good times, good times.

Yes, those Carnies.  Small hands, smell like cabbage.  Same folk.
