$harpton is gloming onto this lawsuit now.  The guy makes me sick.  He was on H & C last night saying that "that girl" deserves something from Imus' $20mm settlement with his former employer(s).

Yeah, real slander and defamation.  She's scarred for life for sure.  Phfffttt!

Funny thing, bringing this suit makes her a public person for sure - she has thrust herself into the limelight.  So now you can parody her all you like with near impunity.

So now I can call her a nappy headed ho with impunity if I were so inclined, eh?

From the article:

After the comments were made, she said at a press conference: "Unless they've given 'ho' a whole new definition, that's not what I am."

I thought "ho" was synonymous with girl.  Didn't they change the meaning within the last 20 years?
That reminds me, I need to call my "ho." [:D]

All you have to say is that you're a rapper and everything is cool, it's the ultimate racism shield.

I bet it gets tossed, or either Imus gives each of the offendee's some $$ to go away.  Then that would pretty much would make them all a bunch of....

Eh, nevermind.

Is it just a coincidence that Don Imus settled with his former employer for millions of dollars at around the same time that the lawsuit against him by the player was filed?

Sooner or later, Sharpton is going to be discredited as the demagogue he truly is. Just get him emroiled on the correct issue and watch all that political capital of his go right down the toilet.

cannon_fodder

Jaynes, he's been discredited time and again. Most recently, of course, with the Duke players thing. Not sure who gives this man support anymore, what good does he do?

If this is the best the civil rights movement has left to offer, I'm afraid it is indeed dead.  I guess its a sign of equality when "their" leaders can be as inept and ineffective as "ours."

The only reason $harpton is still relevant to the Democratic party is that he can bring a lot of black votes to the table.

I don't think he will ever be discredited by his own folk because he's convinced them every time someone goes after him it's just "the man" trying to keep all of them down.

When he ran for President, he managed to raise a little less than $1mm.  Of that, I believe $100K was the Federal campaign reimbursement.  He knew he didn't have a chance to even get close to a nomination, but I bet it helped fuel his lifestyle for a year.

Seems like allowing herself to be used as a conduit to siphon off CBS's $20 Million settlement puts her a bit closer to "ho" status.

Off topic, but I think Kanye's new song 'Stronger' has an insult which causes Imus' to pale.  He goes 'You can be my black Kate Moss tonight' at one point.  This from Mister 'Bush Hates Black People.'  He does not say 'you can be my queen/beyonce/princess.' Nope.  He tells the Sister she can be a colored version of a scrawny coke head.  Oh, where is the outrage???

I can agree with you there, but I think someone like that can be discredited only so much before people stop reinvesting him with any more credibility. Then again, after his involement with the Tawana Brawley scandal in the 1980s, as well as the Crown Heights riot in 1991 and the 1995 riot at the Fashion Mart in Harlem, one would think that he'd crawl back under the rock he crawled out from under, but you'd be wrong.

$harpton has a brass set of family jewels.  He remains relevant because many black people think they need a rabble-rouser like himself to speak up for them.  There are many black people who are embarrased by this guy.

Unfortunately for them, he has little in the way of creds outside his own race.  To most white people, the guy is a petty extortionist.  I don't think he has any friends in the DNC, just acquaintances.
