Did anybody else see this story on KJRH?  They held these guys at the Tulsa County jail for 4 days, one born in KC, one born here.  I wish they would post the video.  Neither of these guys had any trace of a spanish accent, the Oklahoman had a midwestern accent and the guy from KC had a country twang.  Unbelievable that it took four days to convince the authorities that they were Americans.  This is unacceptable and I think the County/ICE need to get their act together.  I'd rather they erred on the side of the Americans, personally.

I wish I could say... this is the last of this sort of thing that will happen.....

But anyone that has thought this out knows it is just the tip of the ICEberg...

I already have a few stories... a guy who has a very slight accent is given a hard time (for HOURS) at the DMV and then is told he needs to go to another facility to renew his license.

He has all his papers...

Already have somebody else who's moving... she was BORN in Houston, but has family members she fears for...

These people aren't going back to "Mexico"... especially since a good number of these people aren't from Mexico at all...

They'll take their talents and skills to Arkansas or Kansas or New Mexico or Texas...

Shameful.

These guys were arrestd because they had warrants on failure to pay traffic fines and one of their social security numbers pulled up 6 names, and the other, they say, did not answer to the name he gave them!!!

I believe law enforcement acted appropriately.

The arrest was fine based on the warrants.  The detention for four days because of questions about citizenship is not.

This is the exact problem I've preached all along.  US citizens do not carry anything that proves they are US citizens.

And if you think this is okay, you try sitting in jail for four days for a bogus reason and see how you like it, while the rest of us say it was okay.  Then tell us you wouldn't sue.

Here's the video.  Listen to their (missing) accents...this is messed up.
