We had a Cirque show come to town a few months ago at the Brady. I felt horrible for the troop because of how few people showed up. You could tell the show was a lot of work, and the people who were in it and running it were terrific.  The little audience that did show up gave it their all in applause. People in the audience around me were commenting about how few people came out to support it. I can imagine that they wouldn't want to come back to Tulsa or definitely spread the word that Tulsa is not the place to go for that type of thing.

People complain about how there isn't anything neat like that to see in Tulsa. It was a great show, but hardly anyone showed up. I honestly felt sad and embarrassed.

That's Tulsa....

I guess everyone goes to Vegas for entertainment. And those that can't afford to leave it in Vegas, well they go to the local casino.

Phish sux....and no longer are together.

But there are still several jam bands who when coupled together would produce an 18,000 sell out.

Unfortunately, the music business is at an all time low and this reality makes it difficult to find the right mix of talent for critical mass.
That and the fact all the great performers are too tired to tour.

Country still rules....not to my liking.

Even 3 tremendous cw icons backed by Asleep at the Wheel could not sell out the Mabee. But Garth, Carrie, Vince, and Reba would. The next day do a tractor pull. And then a rodeo on the third day.

Over at the civic center have the world's largest gun show run concurrently...

I Can't believe I missed them coming to town! [:(]

A mix of musical acts that brings in different age groups, a line-up such as:

Fleetwood Mac
Rush
Weezer
The White Stripes

It would sell a lot of tickets.

cannon_fodder

Yeah, I didnt know there was a Cirque show in town either...

The results of the World's survey are in. Front page layout looked pretty cool, too. Try to look at the PDF version or a paper copy.

Then what?

this is the season of what now?

How many seats are we up to (or down to) now.  Last I heard it was less than 20,000.  Most of the events mentioned here require more seating to make ticket revenue.

Why would someone book a 15,000 arena when they have a choice of a 25,000+ seat arena just a couple of hours away and sell signifigantly more tickets within the same market?

Sorry to interject business into this. . . If I were Aerosmith, I'd go to OKC and make 20% to 30% more profit.

You may continue now.

I don't know how anyone could make 20%-30% more profit in OKC except for outrageous ticket prices.  The Ford Center and the BOk Center are comparable in size...

Ford Center Capacity
19,599 (Basketball)
18,036 (Hockey)
17,868 (Football)
20,817 (Concerts)

BOk Center Capacity
18,041

20-30% more profit in OKC wouldn't happen.

You don't seem very well informed.  Start over.
