Is the name now: Tulsa, BOK or QT

I look at it this way: A city desires to have a nice looking arena. They promise companies that can give the city the needed financial boost a name on the building. As a result, people who come to visit (in the future) will say, "You remember that nice arena in Tulsa?" You won't hear anything about BOK, unless they found it important enough to remember. Besides, why complain? BOK is a Tulsa company. If anything it helps the local economy.

Not that you are going to bother answering any of my question, or, if you should - that it will make any sense.  You failed

Why do you think a company is willing to pay tens of millions of dollars to put their name on an arena?

Go ahead an sue for TORT on that.  I'd be laughing along with the court when they kicked you to the curb.

The entire practice is being abused already.  By your training you should make it your problem..

HOW is it being abused?

And not only is it NOT my problem, I consider it to my benefit.

You have NO argument.  You have raised no sensible argument.   You did not even realize that companies were paying for advertising, nor suggest an alternative motive.  You did not rebut the fact that you were dead wrong when you claimed people wanted to call Tulsa by other names (a major premise of yours).

You have made a weak far flung argument and then failed to back it up with decent fabrications.  Your continued posting on this subject is an affront to the men and women in the city that try to get companies to pay for our infrastructure and our corporate citizens who do so.  Not to mention a complete, and total waste of my time.

I'd say 1/10 Shadows posts are any better than a a typical response from Miss Game Cock.

My understanding was the interest on the loan of the airlines that went belly up already nears the total amount the city will receive for the use of the building as a sign board for advertising purposes.   I believe that the BOK is a multi-state banking concern.

If the taxpayer is expected to build buildings to be used as signboards for the big corporations, while taxing their citizens under the pretense that such income is used for infrastructure, then let the small business have naming rights to the trails, braking it in segments of four to each mile.   Let's let "Joe Plumbing" and others place a decal sign on the trails so the joggers will read them when they take their morning jog.  Course the stipulations that are attached to the 100m donations will cover all advertising on the trails I am sure.

Democratic Republic's are to support the fairness issues among the citizens but history will record that our form lasted only from1865 to 1930 then changing to a Socialistic Republic, becoming the worlds greatest debtor.  A disk encyclopedia predicted that by 2000 we would have one-half of the world lawyers in the USA.  I would not comment on that but we seem to have 99% of the world's greed.

We drove down the 4 mile 71st corridor last Saturday Night.  They were doing a land office business among the establishments.  I cannot believe that intelligent persons would think that they would bulldoze this all down to relocate it on the river or can find downtown space to fit it in.

We would suggest that we open up the gates to the immigrants but is is now proven that we have never had them closed.  They seem to be the largest of the groups of spenders that are available and our greed controls all of our actions.

Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

I think someone needs to be put back on their meds. And trying to argue or reason with someone who has clearly lost it doesn't exactly make one look sane.

Let me apologize if I overlooked a directed question.  It was not my intent as I only wish to express my views to be intertwined with others.  I assume the mayor is the question answering person with her sixteen advisors..  If you have a legitimate question place it in a format such as this and I assure you you will get an answer.

I am very interest in government, local and national and too, if possible, see that people are informed.   Like the epic of Margaret Mitchell's there are the indications that ours again ride on "the winds of change".  The once pitchfork army of Russia is assembling within our own borders and we look the other way.   Even now the winds of  change has carried it almost beyond control.  We were blessed to have been assigned to this land but due to our failure to protect these privileges granted by our birthrights, they are slipping through our fingers as if measuring the duplication of time

Public property is being converted to private control and like the King's Court of yesterday, we are subjected to an appointed closed government.  It should be a "wake up bell" instead of "for whom the bell now tolls".

How would you explain what the QT Center is, as used in the TW, to a stranger?

Welcome to the new governing party.

This all seems like the night shows questioning the college students on government issues.

1) Shadows, if you look up a few posts I did direct questions to you in your suggested format.

2) What public property is now in private control?  You do realize that naming rights are not the same as buying the building dont you?

3) I would explain the usage of Expo to a stranger now that it is called QT Center the exact same as when it was called Expo.  Why would that have changed?

Unanswered Questions from Above:

1. Why do you think a company is willing to pay tens of millions of dollars to put their name on an arena?

2. How is the naming rights practice being abused?

3. I never advocated for the city to be known by any other name. Does anyone forget the name Chicago because United named their arena? Or does anyone accidentally call Minneapolis "Target?" Never heard anyone call Dallas "American Airlines" by mistake either. That notion is just plain stupid.

Please understand that your answers are usually non responsive and often seem incoherent to me.  I'm still not really clear what your problem is or what the proposed solution is.  All I know is you do not like the sale of naming rights... but I'm not sure if its because you think we are selling buildings, the manner in which they are sold, the buyers, or what the deal is.

Is it just me or does anyone else break into a feverish sweat when trying to read one of Shadows' posts?

I always find a sentence in Shadows ramblings that makes me read it three times. The first time I am confused, the second time I read it amused, and the third time I read it I am confused again.

Here is my favorite from earlier post...

Perfect example RM! And townsend, that's a good way to put it. [;)]

That's awesome.  I'm not sure on what level but, wow.  If I ever found a hand bound notebook with such thins scrawled throughout, images of Kevin Spacey from "Se7en" would certainly come to mind.

Hmm...what you are saying then is the following (by your logic, Shadow)..

  • Philadelphia PA should now be called Wachovia PA
  • Detroit MI should now be called "The Joe", MI
  • San Jose CA should now be called "The Shark Tank", CA
  • Houston TX, should be called Toyota, TX

..and others.

While I think it's a bastardization of arenas, someone has to foot part of the bill.  If it means we name a building after a corporate sponsor, then hey, we ain't the first to do it and certainly won't be the last.

CP:
Question #1. Why do you think a company is willing to pay tens of millions of dollars to put their name on an arena?
=======================================
They are able to place their name on a public building that cost millions to build for a fraction of what a sign board would cost.  Second: the money they are paying is well covered by the interest the public will pay to them on the back door loan guaranteed  by the mortgage on the public owned airport.  3trd: If they are such good citizens then let the have a mortgage burning regalia and take those millions of dollars of debts off the shoulders of the working poor,   Fourth they would have so supposedly have a sign permit to build a sign board of that size,   Shall I go on with the whole story?
=========================================
Question #2. How is the naming rights practice being abused?
=========================================

2: The reincarnation of following the  trail of the money is available to anyone that can reason.  There are many corporations who would be interested  in free advertisement by pasting their logo on millions of dollars in taxpayers investments in building built by the public tax money . Second: The Caste system that the founders though they could prohibit, is in full force in the Tulsa political community.  Third: Such incidents as the naming of public buildings is used to eliminate other competition by outbidding , in long drawn out plans. By the caste system , when buying such naming rights with the public's own money.  (refer back to question  #1)
=============================================
3. I never advocated for the city to be known by any other name. Does anyone forget the name Chicago because United named their arena? Or does anyone accidentally call Minneapolis "Target?" Never heard anyone call Dallas "American Airlines" by mistake either. That notion is just plain stupid.
=============================================
3: True you cite rare incidents of named arenas but that does not answer the QT Center naming.  Second: Dallas is not known as American Airlines but in the past and present the taxpayer contribution to the Tulsa's AA and their owners should include their logo on the new real-estate/city hall venture of the city by installing a by-pass route for these workers from the burbs to salute as they leave town with their pay checks to spend elsewhere.

The word "Stupid" can be used in many ways.

Does not the recorder of history show a limit of time where democratic republic have existed?

Are the posters proud that they can be a help to the demise of this one?

Is it not easer to destroy one than form one?

You have one in your hands but it is not slowly escaping through your fingers?

Is not all duplicated in the chronicles of time?
