Naming Rights to the Arkansas River?

Does the proposed 4/10 cent River Tax include a provision for NAMING RIGHTS over the Arkansas River?

Since our politico leaders have sold naming rights to the BOK Arena, the Fairgrounds Quik-Trip IPE Building, the UMAC, the Ford Horse Barns, etc., maybe the Naming Rights to the River itself should be promoted?

I propose naming it:  Kaiser River.

Much simple to spell.

The Ar-Kansas River is pronounced the Ar-kan-Saw River hereabouts.

Yes, Kaiser River sounds about right. And, he can REALLY afford it.

Bodies of water, rivers, and creeks can be renamed.

In fact, the Corps of Engineers map of Tulsa County used to have a creek named:

Oops, can't say the "N" word.

But, that was it's name for decades.  In fact, it was Re-named TWICE.  Someone didn't like the re-named creek name, either.

So, there is ample precedent for renaming the Arkansas River:  The Kaiser River.

Sounds:  Wonderful.

Now, who says that the Vote No populace don't have anything positive to say about River Development?

OKC renamed their drainage ditch the Oklahoma River.

Just make sure your canoe doesn't tip over.

If it gets us another couple hundred million I would be for it. Put a minumum bid out for the naming rights, and have an auction. Naming rights go to the highest bidder. What should the opening bid be? 300mill? 500? Would we get any takers lol?

Just name the River after Mr. Kaiser, and let HIM pay the $282 million in sales tax.

Kaiser River.

Sounds GREAT!

In the Phase II of the $0.004 Kaiser River Tax Master Plan, which starts in 2015, it is proposed that Tulsa County will be renamed, in exchange for $500 million in naming rights:

You guessed it.

Kaiser County.

In Phase III of the $0.004 Kaiser River Tax Master Plan, which starts in 2023, it is proposed that the City of Tulsa be renamed, in exchange for $1 billion in Naming Rights:

Kaiserslautern.

Everyone will call it K-Town for short, in memory of T-Town.

Gosh, I'm so sentimental.

Name the river "THE RIVER OF GOLD" because the next generations will be dumping it in it with their sewer water.
Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

Have you guys no interest in truth and reality? You just seem to ignore anything that doesn't fit your little world. Kind of like Bushies and neo-cons.

You obviously have never kayaked the river. Never even floated it or waded into it outside of Zink lake. You have no basis other than your feeble observation abilities to judge the cleanliness of the river or its nature yet you continue spewing verbal sewage about it. No matter how much information provided by people who actually have worked on the river or who use it, you persist in spreading lies and misinformation. Shameful.

Truth is I think you guys don't even like Tulsa or nature. The Tulsa you like is long gone, never to return. I'm calling you out on this. Shadows, FB, CKS511, Chesty, AA, et.al, Do you folks even like Tulsa? Have you ever floated the Arkansas? Or the Illinois (which is no cleaner than the Arkansas btw only clearer)? I bet you couldn't answer four questions about the river without googling. 1.Why is the Arkansas river salty? 2. Where does the Arkansas river begin? Where is the natural crossing of the river that settlers and Indians used to cross the river before bridges were built? Why are there concrete cylinders in the river? If you can't then educate yourself some more before shooting your mouth off.

Another more important question is: Why in the hell do you stay in such an obviously inferior, politically corrupt city filled with intellectual sheep who are exploited continuously by their feudal tax vampire masters? Like FB says, its a bananna republic and always has been. If so FB, you are making no progress in changing that and judging by your insider information, NEVER WILL.

Everyday I log on to these pages looking for insights, commaraderie, enlightenment, education and fun. Instead I am barraged by new threads espousing negativism, sarcasm, ignorance and cruelty. Its boring because people stake out their positions and defend them with vitriolic personal attacks rather than discuss different views and seek a better understanding. That is more in line with a political forum than a community development forum. And I would rather do political discussions with a wider range of experience than is available in these parts.

Frankly, I agree with some who have proposed changes to the rules here. This is morphing into the old TulsaToday forum which was boring and nasty.

WB:

You're in the Political Arena segment of the TulsaNow Forum.

It's the proper place for discussions concerning the Banana Republik of Tulsa, the ruling local Oligarch Families, The Kaiser River Tax, Tax Vampires, The Tulsa County Ring, and the local One-Party System.

Wow Waterboy or Watergirl, you have issues.  and unfortunately I find that I need to waste a few minutes to rant all over you.   A few facts about CKS511.  Age 54, born and raised in TULSA at 31st and Riverside.  Father was a vendor to the OIL BARONS, know all about the ruling families.  Have you been to the Skelly Ranch or personal home of John Zink?    I went to school with the KING sisters all my life and I still don't like them.   I currently live across the street from the river, buying a condo, today infact, ON THE RIVER, waiting on significant other to arrive with his dogs to go over to the lagoon to take our dogs swimming off a newly formed sand bar.   I'm friends of the guys that have done the studies on the river about the dams and the environmental impact.  I talk to one of them every week about what's going on. NO WE DO NOT MATTRESS DANCE!  Do you know what the latest Natures Works sculpture is?

What I don't like about Tulsa right now IS being pimped to vote for this tax.  Tulsa's population deserves a well thought out plan, SHE IS NOT a whore.

yadda yadda...now sit down and get over yourself.

Thank you thank you very much.....LOL

waterboy

Wow, I guess I'm put in my place. A thread placed in the politics section but undoubtedly development in nature (hint: a river tax for developing the river). That's a thin line when you put "naming rights" as a political decision. Whoever put it there could referee in the Pac 10.

And Ck living next to the river, having friends in high places as well as (wow!) real live river planners surely makes you special but gives you no particular insight. I know some important people too who did planning for the river. I'm glad we both made it through the last five decades but that and a degree will get you a fine low paying job here in bumpkinville. As far as your dogs swimming in the river...did you know that's against River Parks Regulations? Sure, you live near the river, you would know that.

I noticed neither one of you responded with "yes, Waterboy, I know the answers and yes, I have floated the length of the river and yes I love my Tulsa just the way she is." FB normally would draw conclusions from such omissions.

The latest nature works that I saw was at about 18th & Riverside. Not too impressive, I don't remember what it was. I suppose tourists are lining up to be photographed next to it though. Didn't seem to be too related to the river but whatever. The only one I like is the running wolves a little further south.

Okay, I'm over myself now. Lets all put the blinders back on.

I am with you, watery guy.

I have spent lots of time AT the river, but have spent very little time ON the river. It does give you a good perspective on what the river is and what it needs.

Not everybody on this forum espouses negativity. It does seem like it at times, but the people who are positive about Tulsa and want to do whatever they can do to make it even better don't post here as often as the ones who are disenfranchised, disinterested or just plain against everything they are not part of.

Ugly plants grow faster than pretty ones.

But after this election, whether it passes or not, life will go on in Tulsa. I am positive about that.
Power is nothing till you use it.
