Tulsa is going to have a wonderful year

Tulsa is going to have a very good year starting on December 18th.  That is when the planet Jupiter moves into Capricorn.  Tulsa is a Capricorn (it's called Mundane Astrology).  And Jupiter is the planet of beneficial stuff like good luck and cash.  It is the high point of a 12 year cycle for the old goat.  The year will be full of opportunity for gains for Tulsa.  And some of it will just be plain "dumb luck."

Frankly, I've been very unhappy with Tulsa since the passage of HB 1804 and I'm not sure if she deserves the good luck she is about to receive.  Maybe she'll realize HB 1804 is not going to do anything for Tulsa other than get her another unfavorable mention in the Encyclopedia Britannica (where the only mention of Tulsa cites her infamy as ground zero for the worst race riot in U.S. history).

Here's a summary of a forecast from one of my favorite astrologers, Susan Miller.

You are on the cusp of the very best period of your life, when the whole world is about to open up for you like a big beautiful hibiscus flower, dear Capricorn! Jupiter, the planet of luck and happiness, will enter Capricorn on December 18 for a year's stay, a privilege you've not had since 1996.

Think back to mid-2003 to mid-2005. During part of that period, depending on your exact birthday, you went through a very difficult time. For example, if you have a December birthday, you found the end of 2003 and early 2004 hardest, but if you were born, say, near January 15, you found late 2004 through early 2005 hardest. Now the universe will make a correction and as hard as it was then, you will have just the opposite - nothing but wonderful developments, coming one right after the other.

It matters not what your main wish may be - to find true love, to make money, to climb the ladder of success at work, to buy a house, or travel internationally - you name it, and send it out into the wild blue yonder. Once you state your desire and set out to achieve it, the universe will respond in kind. Jupiter has been associated with miracles too, so keep that in mind.

To get the most out of your coming year, take a little time at the start of the month to think about what you'd like to achieve in the coming year. Go over goals and redesign your list if necessary. Your practical nature will allow you to choose the goals that offer the biggest potential. At the same time, think big and don't sell yourself short. The coming year is a year unlike any you've ever seen. You will have great help from influential people, but when they ask, you should not blink - you'll need to know precisely what you want. Have confidential talks and assess goals from December 9 to 20.

Within that period, on December 11 you may have a secret strategy meeting that turns out so well! An influential person may want to help you get to the next level. If so, you'll have to keep this person's involvement mum - no problem there! Don't launch any new ventures until after December 18 for best results.

Your best day this month will occur when Jupiter meets the Sun on December 22-23, the time I call the luckiest of the whole year. You should be thrilled with developments within your relationship, and also with financial news. You may get a nice check or a very generous gift from someone who loves you.

Some Capricorns will get engaged at this time, and if that describes you, you will have chosen the most heavenly time ever to do so. Other Capricorns will sign business deals, and similarly, those readers will do very well, too. You might want to take a chance on a small contest, because on top of all your other luck, you could win that as well!

Be sure to celebrate this coming New Year, dear Capricorn! It just may be the very best year of your life!

If you want to read more about Tulsa's Jupiter transit check out Susan Miller and her December forecast for Capricorn at www.astrologyzone.com.  In fact, her November forecast also focused on the upcoming astrological event, so read the November forecast too.

Not so much into the "devils art" of astrology [;)], but it seems like good things are headed our way.  As the nation has a housing crunch and slower growth, Tulsa continues on.  Slow and steady...

Lets hope for the best in 2008.  Planets or not!

Aw hell, I thought this was going to be Hometown's fare-thee-well letter and he's moving back to Cali and that's why Tulsa was going to have such a great year. [;)]

Just yanking yer chain HT- happy astrological New Year even though I don't pay attention to that stuff.

Tulsa always has a six to nine month lag behind the national trends. Give it time. It's already getting harder to get a loan in Tulsa. CDBG/HUD money is still tied up and the interest rates on County bond money available towards home loans are increasing. I wouldn't be too overconfident that Tulsa dodges the bullet, but I hope it does.

I use a different method to judge the future of a city.  I look at real-estate and development trends.

In the last 4 years there has been a boom in south tulsa with 800k and up housing.  Currently this size home doesn't stay on the market very long compared to houses in the lower price ranges.

Neighborhoods such as Winmore, Belmont, River Oaks, and Crestwood have sprung up, featuring homes in the 2 million dollar range and up.  Most were built as spec and sold before completion.  Perfection Homes, Walterbach, Classe' Homes, Holliinger, and a few out of state builders are creating these spec homes as fast as they can.

The buyers are mostly transplants from the East and West coasts.  They have more power to inject money into our economy than anyone else.  I just finished some consulting work for one 38 year old millionaire who built a 14,000 sq.ft. home in Winmore.  He came from Dallas and brought his entire organization with him.  His wife has opened a retail store.

Each one of these wealthy transplants, wether they come here to retire, or to do business, brings jobs, and increases the positive image of Tulsa on a national scale.  They are active in industry, they travel frequently, and they attract more money to our little town.

If you are unaware of what is happening in that part of Tulsa, then perhaps you should take a drive out there, at least for Christmas lights!!!

Winmore- 110th and Sheridan
River Oaks- 118th and Sheridan (take a right and you will see it on your left)
Crestwood- 121st between Sheridan and Yale
Bellmont- 108th and Louisville
Waterstone- Riverside dr. south to almost Yale
Wind River- Only a few in this one.  Next to Waterstone on Riverside

Things are looking up for Tulsa.

I like this Spoonbill.  Transplants from Blue States has got to be a good thing.  But let me tell you that as a hometown guy who spent the last 30 years on the east and west coasts and returned 2.5 years ago, we are giving serious consideration to leaving Tulsa and starting over again somewhere else.  We've contacted a realtor, et cetera.

I've got a long list of gripes but like I said HB1804 is the deal breaker.

It takes a couple of years to really decipher what is going on here in Tulsa and once that happens you are dealing with massive culture shock.  Tulsa isn't anywhere close to mainstream.  Tulsa is still right wing nut fringe.

Folks that can afford a $500,000 home can also afford a second relocation.  When all is said and done "happiness" is more important than a reasonably priced mcmansion.

Now don't think of me as an individual.  Think of me as a demographic for the leading edge of the middle of the curve of the Baby Boom.  I've always been about six months ahead of the rest of my generation.

But don't get me wrong, Tulsa is still due for some serious good luck whether recent arrivals leave or stay.

Yeah a lot of people have been trying to escape those Blue States for a while now!  I know I would!

I agree!  1804 is a tragedy!  Why should we have to go to the extreme of passing a bill so we can enforce the laws we already have?

As for Wing Nuts, I hate them too!  Darn work bench is full of Right Wing Nuts.  Anyone know where I can get some Left Wing Nuts?

Conan71

Spoonbill, you must be full of crap.  Don't you pay attention to the pedantic posts here claiming that Tulsa sucks and we aren't able to attract quality people or jobs here?

Don't pay attention to HT, he's a walking anachronism and is just pissed off the rest of Tulsa doesn't appreciate rabid liberalism.

Personally, I don't believe in astrology or put any faith in its predictions, but keep it up Hometown.  It's good to read some positive comments for a change.  Your posts always make interesting discussion and spark many differing viewpoints.
