Can anyone recommend anyone locally to give me a primer on digital signage?
My goal is more of a in house message board rather than advertising.

I dont need content designed, just the Reader's Digest version of what is involved $ and time wise.

Rule 1.  Don't use garish LED lights that blind people.

Rule 2.  See Rule 1.

Depending on your exact need, cheap LCD's might be easier than LED signage.

Are you looking for something like a chalkboard or whiteboard in the kitchen?

Hey there,

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but I've had good success with a cheap (<$300) PC and a nice big flatscreen monitor 21" or better.  Just install Microsoft Powerpoint or any number of free slideshow viewers on the internet.  Make your signage as JPEGs or some other file format, put them into the slideshow, mount the LCD monitor where you need it, then run a long VGA cord the PC, which is tucked away in a closet or under a desk.  Voila!  Instant digital signage for under a grand.  Airports and hotels use custom signage software which offers dynamic content creation such as welcome messages, local weather, etc, but a simple slideshow program running on "repeat" will do the trick if you've created all your graphix beforehand.
