time to get your news from some place else other than the rubetube in your living room.

this site gets the word out very poorly....sad it had to turn to mass media.

I went to the store to score a fake Christmas tree for 50% off and this is what I miss? Bah, that's OK... I was famous a few years ago on Channel 2.  I'd hate to steal the limelight. [;)]

Good report actually.

Only thing, it gave the impression that a "lurker" was a negative.  Fear not lurkers, read all you want until, if ever, you feel like joining in.

We are not a business with an advertising budget. Most people find us through google searches.

Why are you so negative on every topic? You seem to badmouth everything about Tulsa, this forum, and all the posters? I don't understand.

We didn't "turn to mass media." Jerry Giordano read about it here and decided to cover it.

somehow I find the chances of KTUL stumbling on the gathering of a few TN people and doing a story very suspicious.  The BoA was robbed and KTUL is out doing a story on TN people?  Nah, this was planned.

You are so smart, Inteller.

Channel 8 is the ABC affiliate and they are owned by Disney. The president of TulsaNow called the "mouse", offered some cheese, and next thing you know, a TV crew shows up at our happy hour.
Power is nothing till you use it.

That's how I found it, and found the conversations interesting and got hooked. As a former Tulsa native with family still there I like checking out the site and seeing whats going on.

The bank was robbed at 3:20 in the afternoon -- it was more than two hours later when KTUL showed up at Caz's. Believe what you want. I really couldn't care less.

KTUL use-to at one time have their own forums. They shut 'em down I guess because of too much trouble. I'm glad I was  not on TV I'm too shy. I like to express my POVs in writting only.. Can't you just see Sauerkraut on the news blabbing away? Yikez! No Thanks![xx(]

Inteller, you do realize that at any given moment there are 40 people on this site.  Accounting for regulars and re-clicks, that still equates to many hundreds if not a thousand people per day.  1,000 people every day reading and posting on events specifically related to Tulsa.

Now, considering that a news reporters job is to cover local items it stands to reason that they would seek out sources of information in that regard.  Not that they would rely on TulsaNow or any other news item on the internet, but it would be foolish not to use this resource as well as other Tulsa news sources and blogs to keep an ear to the ground.  Thus, I expect many local media types found this site just as I did - seeking casual information about what's going on in Tulsa OR Googling a specific topic and finding a thread.

Now, consider the reporters task:  find a filler local piece to run 3 minutes.  Now, I have never worked as a reporter but I'm guessing they are human.  With that assumption, I'm guessing sitting in a bar BSing with some local guys makes for a wonderful assignment.

Either that or this is yet another grand conspiracy by the all powerful TulsaNow to further promote itself (superior hits on Google wasn't enough, it only got us the first 1,992 members) and then take over the city.  Ultimately the County (death to the suburbs!), then the state, region, and then we're going to New Hampshire, and North Carolina, and Florida, and all the way to the White House.  Yeaaah!

Either that or some reporter sitting at his desk ended up putting TulsaNow in his surfing rotation and decided to do a filler piece on us.  Personally, I can't decide which.

[edit]Hi reporter types.  I feel so quasi famous.[/edit]

He said, verbatim, that he read about our gathering on the forum and decided to "crash our party."

Inteller, can you move your bed up against the wall? You keep getting out on the wrong side.

sauerkraut

It was nice to see the posters on the clip. I even got to see got TulsaMIMI, she's great. Looks like everyone had a good time. I'd be far too shy to be on TV.[xx(]

Dang. As usual I showed up a little late and missed out on the filming. Truth is, I robbed the BoA in order to be able to afford the mass quantities of beer I had to buy for Conan. That's the connection Inteller (wrists extended outward palms up).

Mini, was that you grabbing my leg...or Conan? Fine either way.[8D]

edit: happily married, hetero with no intentions of being otherwise. Just wouldn't take any offense considering the effects of alcohol. How 'bout them Packers?!

RecycleMichael

WaterBoy, I think I am going to start calling you BeerBoy after your impressive beverage buying binge last night.

That statement will get you a discount at certain establishments in town.....but you probably knew that already.[}:)]
