One of our favorites is Thai Siam near 41st and Sheridan.

I gotta watch those tiny little peppers, though, 'cause they give me hiccups!  It's kinda embarrassing.

I think you mean 31st..   There in the strip center where the dollar movie used to be.

Yes, Thai Siam is down on the east side of the Mall 31 center on 31st street, west of Sheridan.  The defunct $1 movie house is on the west side of this strip center.

Yep.  Thirty first it is.

I was distracted by thoughts of peppers.

May you live in interesting times.

As I'm about to go pick up some Beef Yum Yum for dinner, it occurs to me that I forgot to mention Lanna Thai at 51st and Harvard.  If I wanted a great/cheap happy-hour margarita, I'd be a few doors down at Senor Tequilla's.

I have never been impressed with senor tequila. Generally has the run-down and mismanaged atmosphere of a cheap mexican food place, all the spice and originality of taco bell and yet you have the same wait and tab as if the place was good.

the 51st St Senor Tequilas is complete garbage.  The only one to talk about is the one on 71st St.  Some of the waitresses are semi HAWT and the bartender really does know his tequilas.

Not a strip mall gem, but Crowe's is now closed.  The Union Street Cafe at about 46th and Union looked crowded at lunch.  Not been there yet.

Here are a couple of strip mall surprises...

The NYC Pizza joint at about 48th and Harvard serves terrific cannolis.  And the Bill and Ruths just north of Said Music on Yale has a sushi bar.  (I haven't tried the sushi there, but I was intrigued to see it in a Bill and Ruths.)

Note to sgrizzle et al: I didn't say I loved the food at Senor T's...just the cheap, yummy happy hour margaritas.  Quite a bang for the buck.
