I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been any buzz about this, perhaps it's too uncertain still?  It's fairly large.  It's urban. It's local.  And it's on the North Side.

A 6 acre development on the corner of Archer and Elgin including "three phases -- 44 brownstone residences, 53,000 square feet of office and retail space with the potential to add more, and an 82-room boutique hotel -- spread over three years."  Seems to bring people, retail, and some jobs into the downtown area in a setting exactly like what most around here talk about wanting.

Coupled with continued development in the Pearl, the Blue Dome, and the Brady - not too mention the arena, we have a downtown bracketed by development.  Seems like we're trying to start a fire, I hope it catches.

Oh, and lets see, is there some kind of civic memorial or plaza that would compliment a new development in the Greenwood district?

Yes, I actually consider that part of downtown myself. Will indeed be exciting to see something happening there. I think a lot of people are jaded when they hear any announcements for downtown development anymore. I dont believe anything until I see new foundations and walls going up. "shuffling dirt around like at the Riverwalk doesnt count".  This, plus a hoped for announcement for a new baseball stadium, could really be the spark that gets the fires of downtown development going this time.

If the city is able to get the baseball stadium downtown and puts it where the Hartford Building property is, it would act as one of those much needed "connectors" we talk about. In that area the stadium would be next door to this Greenwood development and also by the Blue Dome stuff. A little development around the stadium at all and voila, you would get some great "critical mass" and have a nice urban neighborhood/district well underway.

Here is keeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
"When you only have two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other."-Chinese proverb. "Arts a staple. Like bread or wine or a warm coat in winter. Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

If this guy can get funding together, more power to him.  I'll believe it when I see ground breaking.

I hope this works out.  This development could be huge, given its location on the edge of downtown and proximity to OSU-Tulsa and the new Langston campus.  It would be nice to see students and recent graduates of the two schools residing in the brownstones.

im more excited about this than a ****ing ball stadium.

The ballpark will spark multiple iterations of developments like this one, so I don't really understand your attitude.  Think, then post.  Or don't--I'm always entertained either way.

That's not to knock this idea.  I think it looks really, really cool and I hope it becomes reality.

Keep in mind the stadium is a few blocks south of here. That means that both developments will spark infill between the two. Blue Dome, east village, and greenwood will all blend together.

Agreed. If only "the city" would tune up more interest in the Brady.....

It was Suzie Savaged who had no master plan but put the jail inside the district. Playing footsie with city employees does not work well with others.
