Anyone know what's going up on the NE corner of 129th and 31st? They razed the old bank building a few months ago and took the corner lot down almost to street grade. The 1/2 finished brick job on the outside makes it look like a fast-food restaurant (based on windows/doors), but it has no drive through. The back of the building comes all the way east to the edge of the Drug Mart property.

I'm glad to see something new go into that lot. I'm just hoping it's not a laundromat or something like that.

It could be another QT store, or a Whataburger or another self-storeage unit. It could be just about anything but it's fun to speculate[:P]

There's a QT already at that intersection on the Southwest side north of the Braums.  Unless they're gonna close that one down in favor of the speculative new one.

There's a banner outside the building this morning that says "Coming Soon: Family Video". I get the feeling that this is going to be a very small strip center, rather than a single restaurant/store. Guess a functioning strip center is better than a defunct bank...but I'm disappointed it's not something better.

Exactly! My wife and I were just discussing this. I don't see video rental places around in 5 years.  Looks like the entire building is for the video store. They just put up their big sign on the corner (one that B.A. would never approve). I guess it'll be a decent building for someone else to move into when they go out of business.

We are discussing buying one of the new AppleTV things.  When this happens Blockbuster will go out of business, because my wife rents about half a dozen movies a week (exaggeration but not by much).

We use Netflix/Blockbuster mail order video rental.  That will be what puts the brick and mortar's out of business, and downloadable content.

Looks like the old Albertson's at 31st and Garnett has some work going on.  There is a construction fence around the western part of the entrance.  Not sure if they're actually working on Albertson's or some other part of that shopping center though.

Drug Warehouse is moving there.  Most likely going to close the 31st and 129th East Ave location.  I couldn't see them keeping both locations open so close together.  They're not QuikTrip, you know.  [:D]
