So I'm still not getting a consensus here...

Are they doing some sort of mix of SD and HD?

What do they broadcast in?  720p or 1080i?

I understand only some shows will be done in full HDTV, the rest will be done in less than 1080 lines in order to offer more shows or channels or something like that. The other grades of HDTV will offer pictures simular to todays annalog TV set with 550 or so lines, no doubt to cut corners as time passes and the HDTV fad fizzles away more and more shows will be done in less than full 1080 lines. please don't post anymore in this thread, your ignorance is showing like a plumber's butt crack.

Were you the one that won the date with Sentz last year Wavoka?

T-Town Now

Wasn't Channel 2 also the first in Tulsa to go Stereo? I remember seeing an ad for it around the holidays in 1986? 1987? and at the time that was a pretty big thing as well.

Does this mean they can go back to running a ticker along the bottom for weather warnings, school closings and whatnot?  Or will they still be stealing 3/4 of your screen every time the wind blows a leaf off a tree?

This thread was started talking specifically about KJRH (Channel 2)'s newscasts.  The local stations have all been broadcasting in HD for quite a while now - Which meant that certain ABC CBS NBC and Fox shows were actually in HD.  Until this week, none of the local stations had a newscast that was actually in HD tho.  Now Channel 2 has an HD broadcast, but from reading this thread (I havent seen the broadcasts myself) It seems like they didnt go "whole hog" just yet - Lots of leftover non-HD material mixed into their broadcast.

Probably going to be a long time before EVERYTHING broadcast is 16:9 720p or better - The federal mandate is only that things go DIGITAL, and not HIGH DEF.  4:3 480i is probably going to live on for years.

Everything KJRH does from here on out will be in HD, including all of their field cameras.  When you see footage on a local broadcast that is not in HD, will indicate it is file footage prior to their change-over.

And while all of the local stations have been passing along HD signals from the networks, no one has been doing exclusive HD prior to KJRH.  It required them to replace everything, including cameras and all of their stage electronics, ......

I wish. Had I known about it I would have doubled the amount the winner actually paid.

Beth Burnett? Not so much....

yeah, Beth burnett is kinda freaky to me, I look at her and I think, psycho stalker girlfriend....like that QuikTrip commercial [}:)] but I guess she is one of the last single women....the rest seem to be getting busy getting knocked up.

Their high school basketball highlights tonight were definitely not in HD.
