How Many Elections are ENOUGH?

Let's see just how many elections Tulsans will be paying for this year, shall we?

In February, we had Super Tuesday for the Presidential Primaries + some local school board and school bond races.

In March, we'll have the City Council Primary Elections.

In April, we'll have the City Council General Election.

In May, thanks to GREAT timing by TCC President McKeon, we're going to have ANOTHER Special Election.  What for?  For TCC to tax us $76 million more.  Didn't we ALREADY pay for a Fire Academy before??

We know that the Tax Vampires love these SILO'd Special Elections, where they can summon their Minions of the Damned from their Netherworld to pass their tax increases, while we have to GO TO WORK that day....

What other elections are also being queued up for the remainder of the year?

We know there is the Presidential election in November.  That makes five.

That means, we also vote on our U.S. Representatives, and our State Representatives, and some of our State Senate office-holders.

That means there will be in all likelihood PRIMARIES in advance of the November General Election, right?  Probably August for the Primary, and September for the run-off, if necessary?

So, that tallies us up to SEVEN scheduled elections in 2008, so far.

That still leaves, June, July, October, and December for other elections.

What an OPPORTUNITY

With a LITTLE more effort, we can have an election EACH MONTH in 2008!

Common Tulsa, show your Greatness!

We know that Mayor Taylor is DYING to adopt the establishment "task force" recommendation from establishment Blue Bloods Bartlett & Sharon King-David (who we suspect don't know diddly about street construction or maintenance), to raise taxes by another $1.6 BILLION for streets.

And, we know that the Tulsa City-County Library wants another go at a new Grand Central Library - down-town.

So MANY elections!

What a wonderful hallmark of democracy?

Uh, maybe a hallmark of stupidity.

Could we MAYBE have some ADULT leadership in the State Capital and maybe limit election cycles to like THREE times per year: MAXIMUM.

March/April - August/September - November.

Or, maybe QUARTERLY.

So, if you miss scheduling your special election this quarter, just patiently wait until NEXT quarter.

How does that sound?

I know, the Tax Vampires at the militant teachers union, the school superintendents, their associates at the Higher Ed cabal, and Flintco and associated construction company and school vendor/supplier cronies will just HATE the idea, but how about the Taxpayers?

Doesn't their vote count?
