Sustain:ABILITY Series
Price Tower Arts Center's Architecture Study Center presents Sustain:ABILITY, a series of programs exploring and attempting to define "sustainability" by engaging some of the most progressive architects, designers, and manufacturers working in an environmentally conscious manner. While "green" issues and design initiatives have become part of popular culture, and "LEED" standards are faced by every new construction project, the need for a better understanding of sustainable design, is especially applicable in the Midwest whose residents are not yet burdened local regulations on natural resource consumption, diminishing air quality and landfill availability. Designed to inform not only architects and design professionals, but also anyone interested in creating a more sustainable living and working environment.
March 27 - Sustain:ABILITY "Design and Construction: Hand and Mind" at the Bartlesville Community Center, Studio Theater.
As principal of Rockhill and Associates, Dan Rockhill's architectural projects are tightly bound to the natural landscape and culture of the region. The recipients of numerous awards, Rockhill and Associates was most recently honored as "Firm of the Year" by Residential Architect, named among Natural Home magazine's "Top Ten Green Architecture Firms," and awarded "Home of the Year" by Architecture
As Executive Director of Studio 804, a non-profit, design/build program at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design, Rockhill is committed to providing his students with real-world design/build experience through the creation of community based architectural projects.
Rockhill will address his design and teaching processes in his lecture titled Design and Construction: Hand and Mind, The work of Rockhill and Associates and Studio 804
and his book, Designing and Building: Rockhill and Associates (TUNS Press, 2005) will be available for purchase and signing following his talk. Time: 6:30pm Cost: $8 PTAC members, $10 non-members. Call 918.336.4949 to reserve your ticket.

I thought this was an excellent lecture, and I'm looking forward to Rick Cook's presentation next month.

Thanks so much to the Architecture Study Center at the Price Tower Arts Center, the Eastern Oklahoma Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Ambler Architects, and the Barnett Family Foundation for sponsoring this lecture.
