Campaign Kick-Off
For Democratic Candidate for Tulsa County Commission District 2
KAREN KEITH
Sunday, March 16, 2008
1:00 p.m.
Campaign Headquarters
1623 East 15th Street
(Across from Panera)

For those of you who are not aware, Karen is one of the founding members of TulsaNow TN History.  Most people recognize Karen from her days as a reporter and anchor at KJRH TV.  What many of those people have not seen is how she has silently worked in the background, serving our community in a number of ways over the years.  Her campaign is a logical progression of her service to the citizens of Tulsa County.

Isn't she a Malloy? Conan, what are you doing supporting a democrat? Good for you.

RecycleMichael

That is impressive...Conan usually picks his politicians like he picks his race horses...it ain't no fun unless you pick winners.

I, on the other hand, almost always pick a democrat, even when there are no partisan issues. I often pick losers, but hold my head high.

I also wonder if the republicans are going to put forth any other candidates for this race?

May the BEST candidate always win.  I've voted for my share of competent Democrats.

IMO- County Commission and City Council should be non-partisan races.  I truly believe she will be a consensus-builder who can work with people of all political stripes.  She's one of the hardest workers I've ever met.

Given who's hallowed those halls in recent years, a can of beans would make a better county commissioner.

That being said, Karen Keith is a good choice. Way better than any canned legume product.

waterboy

Hard to find anything bad to say about Karen Keith. The County needs quality people who see past partisanship. The fact she enlisted you proves her good vision.

Free food and drink at this kick-off? Just wondering...

Just ask what her stand was on V2025, the River Tax, Bell's, S Yale Toll Bridge, and any other issue that pitted the GOB vs. the hoi polloi and then see how she does.

RecycleMichael

There are quite a few issues to ask any candidate for County Commissioner. Fairgrounds management is interesting, but the County also runs the jail, pave a good deal of roads each year, manage all kinds of partnerships including the library, INCOG, etc. They help oversee the largest public building in the state and run a fair that attracts a million people a year.

You have to deal with everybody from engineers to carneys and from the sheriff to the assessor.

This job touches our lives in so many ways, but the elections are usually not as well covered as a single city council race.

Due to the cool weather and winds forecast for today, the campaign kick-off has been moved to:

The German American Society Of Oklahoma
1429 Terrace Dr.
One block west of Lewis on 15th.

Did waterboy show up for the cake and cookies?

Great turn-out, I did not see Waterboy.  I did see Mr. "Two Yes Signs" Ken Busby though.

The Tulsa World story was very complimentary this morning, I thought.

Now, (the South Yale Toll Bridge) taking into consideration her political swami of the time way say quite a bit.... That is if you could get an answer.

AA- I hear you complain a lot about the powers that be in this area.  Why don't you quit complaining and do something substantive like run for office?  You obviously have a passion for government, so why not be one to make a difference yourself?  I mean that sincerely and not as a snarky insult.

That's how government changes by people having the courage and/or ambition to go from private sector to an elected position.

But it's so much easier and safer to shout from the sidelines...
