Fantastic news!  I'd love for it to include residential as part of the mix, though.  Then again, there are several lofty res projects going up around there [:)]

And, instead of just 'play and work', they could include live on their tagline.

And say, isn't that the NW corner of Trenton??  Oh wait, it's St. Louis.

ummm... kilkennys, cafe cubana, chimis, the empire, gray snail, chrome, t.a. lorton, zoller...

i mean if you are going to list them, why not list them all?

but, i'm all for it and the rendering appears to have a parking garage... awesome...

They might have to pay to play.....

What structures are they pulling down next to the Full Moon?  I hate to see "teardown infill" when there are plenty of areas that need plain infill.

Isn't that where LaDonna's Fancy Foods is??  I wonder if they'll be in the new building?

It appears from the address and their map that they'll be taking out whatever structures currently occupy the northwest corner of 15th and St. Louis Ave, next to Subway and across St. Louis from Full Moon.  I don't know what occupies those structures, but it looks like they're slated to be demolished and replaced by 9,000 feet of restaurant/retail.

Like I said, I don't know what's in those buildings, but wouldn't this go better where the carwash is?  As far as I can tell, this is zero-sum infill.

Edit: fixed the location

La Donna's, Bead Gallery, Boston Artists Gallery, Chris Clauson Gallery, the kilt store, Sideways has already moved.  Will they have to make a parking lot behind the building?

Very nice. Hope this happens. Cherry Street is really starting to pick up steam and develop into quite an attractive area for pedestrian friendly, urban living and the "yp, creative class" set.

And do I get this right... Is the length of the building going north-south? And it will have retail on the first floor?  If so that will be a great addition to begin fleshing out Cherry Street by adding more options other than just whats facing the street.

Maybe it's the scale of the photo on this page, but that sure is reminiscent of "Cathey's, 8th to 9th on Main."  I'm not that nuts about the exterior myself.  I'd like to see it blown up.

I'm don't want to make a snap judgment here, but I still don't think it's a good sign that developers are tearing out smaller structures that front the street in order to put in a larger faux-warehouse structure that does the same.  Seems to me that there are other places along 15th where this development would cause less of a loss of neighborhood feel.  This just happened to be the cheapest/easiest parcel available.

Somebody with a camera want to get over there and show us what we're losing?  I'm down in Dallas or I would.

Here's a shot of part of what is slated to be torn down.

Something to consider, they are removing 6 small merchants in order to go up.  Will there be 6 small local merchants able to afford the rent in the new building?  I am all for progress, but what is the total cost involved. Merchants should get ready for rent increases.

If I were a neighborhood resident or merchant, I would not be happy about this development.  I think it's a net loss for the district.  When Center 1 went up in Brookside, it replaced an old Wendy's and enhanced the district.  This development is replacing retail and residential with more expensive retail and office.

I wish they would go buy the car wash or the Long John Silver's and put their faux-warehouse up over there.  Or even better, put it on one of the dilapidated tracts on Peoria between 15th and the Broken Arrow expressway.  Now that would be infill I could get behind--extend the district and build in vacant space.  Don't tear out good, old stuff for expensive new stuff.
