Outdoors retailer coming to RiverWalk

The new location for Lewis & Clark Outfitters will be its first in Oklahoma.

Lewis & Clark Outfitters, an upscale outdoors and sporting goods store operating out of Arkansas, will be the anchor store for phase two of Jenks' RiverWalk Crossing shopping center.

The Springdale, Ark.-based chain has three locations, and is opening a fourth in Arkansas, but the RiverWalk store will be its first outside of its home state.

Lewis & Clark features equipment and apparel for outdoor activities including hiking, camping, cycling, rock climbing and paddlesports, according to its Web site.

Jerry Gordon, developer of RiverWalk Crossing, said Tuesday in a telephone interview that various other retail stores have committed to the shopping center since hearing about Lewis & Clark.

Changes in the architecture for phase two caused some delay in moving forward with construction, Gordon said.

"The anchor tenant changed the design of our building. We had to redesign our building totally to fit them," Gordon said.

The building anchored by Lewis & Clark will include five other businesses, he said.

Jeff Kaste, leasing agent for RiverWalk Crossing, said earth-moving should begin within two weeks.

Phase one of the shopping center is considered fully leased with the recent addition of three new business concepts, Kaste said.

Photographic Designs Gallery, a photography studio, opens Tuesday.

Two more tenants -- Ale Haus European Grill and Pub; and The Stonehouse Gallery, an art, furniture and home decor retailer -- both are scheduled to open May 1.

An agreement with another major phase two tenant is still in the works. RiverWalk officials said they are close to wrapping up that deal.

The tenant is negotiating for nearly 14,000 square feet of commercial space at RiverWalk, and will include American cuisine with live music, a dance floor, billiards and other games, he said.

Plans for a 204-unit apartment complex and a 50-unit condominium project on the northern end of RiverWalk Crossing are nearing completion as well, Gordon said.

Construction began on phase one of RiverWalk Crossing in August 2003, and was completed in December 2004.

Lewis & Clark is a ****ing sweet store.  They have a super cool rock climbing wall.  I bet they had to change the architecture for that.  They may well become the next Eddie Bauer.

I remember buying boy scout supplies from their Fayetteville location when I was in elementary.

They have a picture here:

From the look of the other stores, it looks like they adapt to the architecture of the center they are in instead of just making it look like a giant lincoln logs set like another outdoor store does.

Good, NOW I bet this phase 2 of the development will really get underway. I figured he just needed to get a major tennant locked in and then others would follow and once that happened he could get rolling. Great news.

LOL, yes you are correct.  I am the one who has a bad memory.  I actually got my boyscout supplies from Pack Rat (which is actually in Fayetteville), not Lewis and Clark.  Lewis and Clark is by Lake Fayetteville.

I hope so, or it could be another Toby Keith thing. D&B (big kids version of Incredible Pizza) would be a great addition to any development.

Don't count on the Toby Keith venture.  He is commited to Cherokee Casino, scheduled to open in 2009.  I don't see him having two in the area.

We keep seeing D&B commercials on tv (cable channels not local channels) and we have been wondering if one was coming to the area.
