Rumor has it that the owners of Qdoba have leased the space where Sorrono's used to be in First Place Tower.  So maybe there will be a new lunchtime eating establishment downtown in May/June.

I love Qdoba (much more than Chipotle), but I hope it ISN'T a lunchtime-only place.  We need places that stay open past 2 p.m.

We tried the one at 71st and lewis shortly after it had opened, I will never eat at one again.  It was somewhat expensive, the food was cold, and didn't taste good at all.  I will never go back.

I can't imagine it surviving. I'm not sure how the yale and lewis locations stay open.

wow, this may be the only time I go eat at Qdobas....but if there were a Chipotles downtown they would be so dead.

i bet they are closing the cherry st location and moving it to here because chipotles is coming in.

My only guess for the one on Lewis stil being open is because of the ORU students that go there.

That's exactly what my mom said, except that one was in Edmond.  Personally, I've never been to one.

Their parking lot was packed when I had breakfast at the IHOP next door. There were Qdoba people parking in the lot behind the IHOP and walking over. I can't imagine eating Qdoba's at 10 in the morning.

They serve breakfast too...

There's something going into the space, but it's not a Qdoba.

More later.

Instead of a Qdoba, we're getting this:

Two restaurateurs are teaming up again on a downtown eatery that will feature catering with an eye toward downtown workers.

Shelly Harris and Licia Zampino, who once worked together at a south Tulsa restaurant, are opening Boston Avenue Grille and Catering between Fourth and Fifth streets.

Zampino said the location is under construction and will open around May 1.

Harris described it as perfect for the two proprietors.

"I think the location was what drew us," she said. "It's in a great place downtown. I personally love downtown. We have offces right above us, so that automatically provides people traffc."

Harris said she will oversee the kitchen, with Zampino handling hosting and other duties at the restaurant, which is located in First Place Tower at 15 E. Fifth St. The building is owned by Kanbar Properties, whose owner, Maurice Kanbar, owns some 2.1 million square feet of downtown real estate."

Kanbar recently sold the Atlas Life Building to SJS Hospitality for conversion into a boutique hotel.

Clint Baronowski, vice president of Kanbar Properties, said he hopes to see many more retail businesses in the coming months.

"This
is a little bit of new ground, and hopefully its just the tip of the iceberg," he said.

Harris added that Boston Avenue Grille and Catering will serve Starbucks Coffee products and, as the name suggests, catering with downtown denizens in mind.

"We're going to be featuring several specialty items on our catering menu geared toward people who are having business lunches and meetings," she said.

The package lunches will have themes based on region and cuisine, such as Italian, Asian or American.

The daily menu will consist of soups, salads and sandwiches, along with some south-of-the-border options such as burritos, tacos and quesadillas.

A preliminary Web site, which Zampino said will be updated with new features later on, is found at www.tulsaworld.com/bostongrille.

Qdoba bought the vacant burger king on 71st instead.

A bit OT but am I the only one that doesn't like Qdoba? Granted the more downtown the better just an observation.
Thank you,

Nope, don't like it. It's not that I haven't tried. I've eaten there twelve times and tried twelve different things.

I love Chipotle though. Some people are the opposite. Others say they are both the same. If ya think that, check the nutrition facts or I'll save you the time, QDOBA is 20% higher in calories and 50% higher in fat for comparable menu items. My hope is that Chipotle will come downtown but with them building in Cherry Street, I'm not sure.

My personal ranking:
1. The now extinct Atomic Burrito
2. Moe's
3. Chipolte
4. Qdoba

None of them are as good as they could be....which is why I might just have to open....Jose Madre's Burritio Bar and Cantina...

Someday.
