The Mayor gives lots of money to charity each year. She is generous and doesn't need the salsry

She used that money in her budget to hire an economic development director for the city, something we have needed for some time.

What have you given to charity, bear?
Power is nothing till you use it.

A complaint, I'm sure... [:P]

I actually agree with Shadows, Wrinkle and the Mean Bear on this one.  Not that I think FB nailed it, but he certainly raises an interesting point.  At least enough to make one think.

Pay her $1 or she isn't a city employee.  That of itself could have some consequences.  Of course, perhaps she does give back her salary after receiving it... I'm not sure how it all works out.

Though, it is doubtful she claims residency is Florida since she is a MAYOR in Oklahoma.  To claim residency she needs a minimum of 6 months + 1 day, I'd like to think someone would catch that and that she wouldn't risk it to save a few bucks.  But again, pay her $1 and insist upon it.  What's the harm?

Think it through.  MILLIONS of dollars in state income taxes are involved.  Millions.

She is a FLORIDA resident.  Has to be for this certified Home Wrecker to file a joint Federal return with her dear moneybags second hubby, Mr. Low-Beck/High Libido.

Oh, she was a resident the DAY she filed for Tulsa Mayor.

Not before.

And, not since.

She jets home to Florida nearly every weekend.

When she's not jetting to Paris for shopping.

As the eponymous Shadows researched:

Art Vl, Section 7 of the Tulsa City Charter states:

"No person shall be eligible to hold the office of Mayor or City Auditor unless such person shall be a qualified elector and resident at the time of filing for office".

She's a Florida resident.

Land of Sunshine, and the Coveted:

No-State Income Tax.

You can COUNT on it.

Go, Gators!

I'm very charitable.

I contribute the TRUTH to this forum, from time to time, for those with an open mind to understand some of the unrevealed machinations of:

The BANANA Republic of Tulsa.

For those willing to listen.

The minimum wage was establish as a floor to insure equal completion among any producer of articles for sale.  No  employee can agree to work for less than the minimum wage.  (remember Dept of Labor V Pickle Co.) where he took his company to India but is still in litigation)

I would assume that the DL would have an interest in one performing a duty, subject to compensation and other services, declaring it a volunteer service.

Once a fellow came into the office and set his briefcase on the desk and flipped a gold badge saying "I am an inspector for the IRS and I want to ask you some questions about this transaction". He should talk with the volunteer mayor.

Now in the present case, by the Rule of the IRS, you cannot contribute more than 10% of gross income to charity,   If the mayor does not take the salary required by charter then they build "a fund in trust" that will with interest, be subject to litigation by their heirs.

A municipality can amend a single or all its articles.  But it is required to specify each article or section to be amended so the voter can accept or reject each item's title written on the eight grade level.  The Oklahoma statues on chartered municipalities limit the number of words used in all titles subject to a vote of the people. (the charter amendments title contained more than 30% of allowable amount of words)

Daddy don't bother to do anything right in Tulsa..
Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

All lies.

Why are you lying about the Mayor? What has she done to you?

If you have a beef with her, explain it. But stop just making up lies. I have asked you for proof for two plus years, you never have any.

Liar. Liar. Friendly Bear is a proven Liar.

Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar. Liar.

Is RecycleMichelle keeping Mayor Chatty Kathy's Appointment book?

Does he know her whereabouts 24 x 7?

Is RecycleMichelle following our Mayor around?  Is he STALKING our Mayor?

Show us the PROOF that she is an Oklahoma resident?

Show us the PROOF that she doesn't jet home to Florida most weekends?

We want PROOF from you RecycleMichelle.

Proof, poof.

Poof.

No stupid bear. I don't follow her around.

Read the paper. Read where she makes appearances all around town almost every Saturday. How can she be in Tulsa when you say she is always in Florida or Paris?

You are a liar. You can't just make up lies and expect others to prove you wrong.

Don't you and the other bears have some picnic baskets to steal?

RM you are projecting your own saintly qualities.

When I was president of the board of a non profit and I wanted something and I wanted to minimize the opposition and do everything I could to assure I would get what I wanted, I would pay for it myself.  Worked every time.

I believe you are confused.

You can give everything away, but are limited in how much tax credit you can take.

cannon_fodder

You can give as much to charity as you want, but you are limited on how much can be deducted from Federal taxes.

Shadows is probably thinking of a 10% limit for corporations.  They can only claim a deduction for charitable contributions of up to 10% of taxable income.  Carry forwards/back can apply.

For individuals:

Cash - up to 50% of your adjusted gross income.

Property - up to 30% of your adjusted gross income

Capital Gains Appreciation -  up to 20% of your gross adjusted income

So you can deduct 100% of your gross income, if you have the perfect income.  Or just give it all away and donate the rest to Uncle Sam.  You can certainly give it away, they don't care - it's the taxes they're after.

Soooo, whats wrong with going to Paris to shop? They have stuff there you can't dream of finding here.  I have found some great bargains there.
