Title: Golden Pawn II site
Post by: Jacobei on September 16, 2024, 05:54:07 PM
Noticed that the building where GPII was is having its walls removed today. Anyone have the scuttlebutt?

Did a little Google search trying to remember where it was and found this article from KJRH in September of 2020 don't know how accurate it is now.

^Pretty sure that project died. I'm sure it will be something completely different now. Probably nothing too remarkable. The property is too valuable to let it sit vacant forever.

Rendering as it that's what's going in or another maybe maybe not proposal? That rendering looks great.

That rendering looks like they removed the bump out and then dressed up what's already there. A couple of corrugated metal buildings.

That's what they're currently building, the permit was just issued.  1Architecture is the architect.

I drove by this the other day and it is pretty much just a skeleton now.  From what I could tell, all of the walls have been removed and just the steel structure is visible.

Is it still supposed to be the same type of thing? Restaurant/Bar/Music. I hadn't seen any more information about it since the 2020 article.

What happened to the place they built across from Moore Funeral Home on the other side of the BA? I see it now a private event place, cannabis cakes and  floral business.

I know it was Zanmai run by the owners of Fuji that was at 71st & Memorial, but no one opened it as a restaurant after it closed?

A lot has gone on since GP II started at 11th & Peoria....then moved to that 13th street building.  Don and Paul Rose got a good little business started there (with help from big brother, C.W.)  Now I am starting to almost feel old...
