There was another steak house on the south side of I44 near the turnpike gate, used to be a bad guy after hours place in the 50's and 60's. Can't remember the name of it though.

Maybe Avalon?  If so, it's there.

The old Avalon is no longer....It's moved and rebuilt.....Not to far from the old location....

Best fried shrimp I've had in Tulsa (and it's near the top of my list for anywhere) is Bros. Houligans on 15th St.  Huge portion and the breading is more like a chicken fried steak breading.

Bros. Houligans? Is that the place between the BA Expwy and Lewis? I remember when that place was a bar called KL Snoozers. Honestly haven't been there since the early 90's, but also haven't been back to Tulsa since late '04.

Jamils was and always will be my favorite for steaks, never left with out a doggie bag. Too bad about The Fountains, it was really good in it's time.

Thanks! I remeber a friend of mine from high school, his father went there one night to arrest a guy who car bombed a judge in Tulsa say that he walked up to the door of the Avalon with three other TPD, a couple of TCSO and a couple of OHP and said that he felt out gunned by the guys inside.

Yep, that's the place.  The new Avalon is Avalon in name only, from the comments I have heard.  It lost 99% of its charm and ambience when they recently moved.  And those I know that have been to the new location (I have not) tell me the food is not the same or as good.  Perception and presentation apparently play a major role.
