I was gonna order some tickets via the internets (thanks Al) but I noticed there was a ~$6 'convenience' fee charge for doing so. At that point it became more convenient for me to simply walk over and buy 'em to avoid that charge. So we got 4 of the $25 tickets for $108. So, $27/ticket - much better.

Hopefully I got some good seats - for some reason I always assume the more expensive seats are better so I went for the $25 tickets which puts us about 4 rows up from the rink in section 109. Are these good seats or is it better to be up a bit higher from the rink for a better view?

I've been to one hockey game in my lifetime and that was at least 8 years ago or so. I don't know anything about hockey, but I love sports so I figured we'd give it a try. I hope they have a good turnout for this game. Anyone know what their average attendance was when they played wherever they played previously?

Averages for the Oilers depended on what season.  The first season of the reborn league, sellouts were common at the CC (7,111).  Last season since we stunk it was closer to about 4,500.  I think with the novelty of the new building that will go up.

I sit in section 101 in the second row (I'm a season ticket holder) so come on over and say hello.  That end of the ice (east) is the end the Oilers attack twice (1st period, 3rd period) and gives my friends and I the greatest chance to heckle the opposing goalie.

I've talked to enough people in the front office to know that the numbers say there are 3500 seats left of a little over 17,000.  Jeff Lund's (the owner) goal is to sell the thing out.  There will also be a presentation before the game thanking the almost 1000 construction workers for their role in making the BOK Center happen.

Hockey is always very raucous,  but Tulsa fans are very intelligent hockey fans and have been known to boo their own team if they feel they aren't playing up to their ability.

Section 109 are pretty good seats.  You should be able to see the benches across the way quite well.

Have fun.

Awesome, thanks for all the info. I'm pretty stoked about goin to the game. So 3500ish with a week left, think they can sell it out?

Tough to say.  Oilers have a new GM (Taylor Hall) and he has really been pushing the team in the community, but I have yet to see any TV spots or hear any radio ads.  Now, they didn't do them last year, but my concern is how empty the building will look once the new wears off, even with the curtains on the upper level drawn.

I'd sure like to see a sellout.  Hockey is one of those sports that's better experienced in person, than watched on television.

Do not go and expect to see good hockey played by the Oilers.....But if you are going just for something to do and spend time in the new venue I would reccomend it....

Early in the season

I know, I'm the eternal optimist....

I'm going more for something to do than anything else. Do the Oilers suck that bad? Why the suckage, they've been around for a while, right? I'd figure they'd have it figured out by now.

Either way, I don't know anything about hockey so it should be interesting even if they suck. I can always be an OKC fan, right?

It's early in the season, plus the first game is against OKC, which is always raucus and fun.
