"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- In another sign that the recovery in the U.S. economy is taking hold, employers added significantly more jobs to payrolls in April, according to a government report released Friday.

There was a gain of 290,000 jobs in the month, up from a revised 230,000 jobs added in March. It was the largest number of jobs added to the labor force since March 2006.

The results were much better than expected. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast a gain of 187,000 jobs...."

Good news for the US.  Just wish the Europeans werent still having so much trouble.  I keep thinking,,, hey looks like we might avoid a double recession and the economy is slowly getting back on its feet here. Then ya can't help but turn a wary eye to all the scary news coming from Europe and think egads. The good news in todays world is that its not just the US and Europe, with China and India still growing in Asia, it helps balance things out. China may falter, but I think we will be hopefully far enough along on the upswing for that to not hurt us too much.  Long as we start ramping up efforts to fix the debt problem here starting soon.

I'm impressed, an artist that knows something about global economics and the realities of the world.
Trust but verify

One of the hazards of being self employed is that occasionally you get to read up on "global economics and the realities of the world".   I hope business has picked up for you Artist.

It has picked up for me thank goodness.  Things were looking pretty dire for a while.  Now if I can keep the momentum going for I am still not getting the kind of work I used to.   I am trying to branch out the business by doing some art deco type paintings, prints, cards, t-shirts etc. that I can use in conjunction with the art deco museum.  Hopefully make some money myself, and take a percentage of the profits and put them to the museum as well.  Trying to find a way to "kill 2 birds with one stone" lol.  Still toying with the idea of opening a shop downtown too but that may be a ways out once I get more "product" designed and ready, and some cash to get stuff at market.  But both of those ideas are going to take a lot of time, especially when one is struggling to do the day job.  All you can do is plod along and try to keep moving forward slowly but surely.

Look for the artist tonight at 7pm on extreme makeover.  I don't know if he made it through editing but you can see his work in one of the rooms.
