Now that would be nice. I've always had older appliances, so those pilot lights have always given me problems.

The gas clothes dryers have had pilotless ignition for a long time, probably 20 years.  We replaced the stove top (it's a separate unit from the oven) probably 12 yrs ago.  It has electric ignition at each burner.  The biggie was the heater (and air conditioner).  We replaced the heater and both parts of the AC about 5 years ago with higher efficiency units.  The new heater has pilotless ignition.  I was concerned about the reliability and safety of the 1968 heater and the outside unit of the AC had some problems too.

It's going to take a lot of gas savings from having no pilot lights on the above items to pay for them.   Grin

though I've always had a pinchant for gas appliances, I've always prefered electric dryers.

We had solar powered clothes drying (outdoor clothes line) until my sister was born.  Then we got an all weather gas fired clothes dryer.
