Film Noir
Back alleys, rainy nights, shadows, guns and double crosses; private eyes, femme fatales, bartenders and gangsters -- film noir, a French term meaning "black film," has been called the most American film genre. Though often identified with their low-lit, black-and-white look, these hard-boiled tales range from the police procedural to the gangster film to the gothic romance and beyond. Hollywood insiders explore this film genre in this short documentary.
