Am I the only one here that doesn't understand why there's no hotel serving Utica Square?  Boggles the mind.  I mean all that's there is fine dining, casual dining, shopping, Starbucks, etc....  why does this city insist on developing everything in complete isolation?   If we took all the best parts of Tulsa that were well-intended and stuck them in the same place, we'd have one AMAZING entertainment district.  As it is, we can't seem to put it all together in the same location at the same time.

And there is a perfect location for such a hotel on the old H&P property at the NW corner of 21st & Utica.  Such a hotel could face the small plaza with the fountain and share the parking garage to the north.  Something nice like a Westin, Hyatt, or Omni.

Forget across the street...I'd put the Hotel on Utica Square property proper...right where the F&M Bank and drive thru are...

I agree.

That might've been an excellent place for the new aLoft hotel being finished behind Best Buy on the 71st St. corridor.

IMO, that corner could fill up 100 upscale limited service rooms without a problem.

I saw an amendment was passed last week for the Utica Place PUD.  Instead of the 10 single family townhomes around the cul-de-sac at 22nd Pl & Utica it will now be a mixed-use office/12 unit residential building fronting Utica with another office building to the east adjacent to Temple Israel and Cascia Hall.  You can see the conceptual plans here: http://www.tmapc.org/Agenda/PUD-680-A.pdf

I saw a short reference to that in the paper.  Those renderings look quite swanky.  Mixed use as well.  WIN!

Actually, I don't think there will be any residential. The PDF shows that there are 12 units in the tower and that none will be added. Somewhat of a disappointment, but overall a good development.

Guess I read it wrong.  That is too bad.  Also I was wrong about the "new" building to the east; it's already there.  That is quite a bit of new office space then, but I've heard they are full and there is a lot of demand for midtown office space because there isn't a lot of it..

The PDF says 10 units are presently in the tower, with two to be added.

The owner of this project got his (waaay over inflated ego) ego handed back to him stamped with "LOOSER" from a Dec 9 court descision stemming from trying to screw his general contractor out of all the change orders invilved with the project.
Good and right will always always prevail over greed and corruption. (excellent record keeping helps too make this true also!)

Isn't the GC also one of the tenants of the building?

Not as awkward as building a fine product correctly and then have a massive lawsuit jammed up your back side. Right is right and wrong looses.
