Blew a .11 and was unresponsive to commands. Geez ! what a lightweight.

This is a little on and a little off topic.

Two or three years ago I worked with a guy (still friends with him) that decided he'd buy, out of an online catalog, one of these breathalyzers.  Now, I'm sure it's probably not rated by any sanctioning body, but it was essentially a consumer breathalyzers.  You blew in it for about 20 seconds; it gave you a response.

We had decided to go to happy hour one night after work on a Friday.  We started early (about 3pm..yes, we took off early...long week), and the pitchers came.  There were four of us.

We all drank the same amount of crappy 3.2 beer (this was pre-Marshall, so no judging me).  I had about 6 glasses or so.  By all intents and purposes, I should probably have blown over the legal limit.  My result?  0.02.

Likewise, the guy that bought the thing, blew a 0.03, and another blew a 0.05.

The guy that we always make fun of not being able to hold his liquor/beer?  He blew a 0.13.

I just wonder how accurate those meters in the field are.  I'm sure they're calibrated.  But is there really THAT much difference between people on how they indicate to the breathalyzers?  Or is it just the result of a field calibrated instrument versus a novelty item?  I tend to think the latter, but we've used this in other situations with the same results.

I'm sure you could purchase the same ones local L.E. uses.....Richard could have had some perscription drugs mixed in there too....Anyone know the rules on if you blow .08 or below.....I know above .15 is considered aggravated and more serious....

This wasn't his first stop, though, was it?
