If the mortar between the bricks isn't any better than the concrete on our streets, maybe not so big an effort.

Not too much effort.  Benzes have crumple zones.  My daughter folded up a late '80s E-type pretty well running it into the back of a Taurus.  The Taurus was hardly scratched.  The Benz was totaled.  She was unhurt.

That car was hardly crumpled.  Here's a pic of the car that went through the wall after it was retrieved:



There's damage, but not much.  according to the paper, they were able to drive it back into the garage.  If he'd hit one of the columns in there the car would have been badly damaged.  As it was, the brick wall was the path of least resistance.

Sorry just saw this thanks to the other thread. A guy I work with took them. I was in my office when he called and said "look out your window." He was out on a smoke break and saw all the commotion so he walked over and took the pics.
