I think they should have let him speak. I heard some of the interviews, and he sounds like he is a responsible guy. He admits a mistake and takes his punishment....a rare thing in this country, especially for someone who (I heard) was drunk three times the legal limit at lunch time. Wow!


The latest I heard was that their are now two speakers for the police ball, Jerry Truster and Howard Twilley.

Being a responsible guy would have required two things:

A) Not being drunk at lunch

B) Not getting behind the wheel after he got drunk at lunch.  No telling what would have happened if a cop hadn't have pulled him off the road.

I guess the DUI wasn't just an honest mistake, but a symptom of a very serious problem. This guy needs help! Maybe denial of bail will be the only thing that will end his downward spiral?
He is so deep in the grips of addiction and denial that he has clearly lost all control over himself. I hope he will get the help that he needs.

I'm curious as to why neither arrest has shown up on OSCN.

There is no such thing as an honest mistake when it comes to a DUI.  It's called poor judgement.  Not discounting the fact that he's got a serious problem being sh!t-faced drunk mid-day, but it's no excuse.

First DUI is by statistics most people's "bottom".  Obviously not with Bernhardt.  Hopefully having his driving priveledges revoked and now being charged with a felony it will wake him up.
