There is an abandoned gas station on the SW corner of 61st and Lewis. The sign says Texaco, but the building itself looks like it was formerly an EZ Mart with its green and orange color scheme.  There are lots of EZ Marts in Arkansas, where it is based.  Was this once an  EZ Mart?  Where is the nearest EZ Mart to Tulsa?

Who Cares

Yes this was an EZ-mart. Ezmarts used to be in the Tulsa metro area until about two years ago, when they suddenly closed or sold off their stores individually. Probably because they couldn't compete with Quiktrip. Many of the Vancant EZ-marts have be demolished already but a few remain, like the one your describing. All of the EZmart's in Tulsa featured Texaco gas. There still are a few EZ-Mart's in the area, but none in the city limits of Tulsa that I know of. There is one in Berryhill and one at US 75 and 111 st. south in Jenks/Glenpool.

The owner of EZ Mart was killed in a plane crash about 5 years ago.  This might have something to do with the decline of the chain in certain areas.

They should cover it in a tarp or something for the PGA

I live just down the street from the abandoned EZ Mart.  It is sooo ugly.  About 2 months ago I got excited because they were finally removing the old buried gas tanks, but nothing seems to be happening now.  I guess they will probably sell parking during the PGA, but a can of white paint would go a long way to not making 61st and Lewis look so run down. Everything else in the neighborhood is nice and cleaned up for the PGA.

I think there is one at 11th and Yale.
