Generally this seems to be getting a positive response from people.  The sports guy on KRMG and the other talking head (not Joe Kelly, his sidekick if you will) tentatively agreed with him.  The Tulsa sports boards are saying Gundy has earned their respect.

I thought the article was a hack job by a title ix sports reporter who has always sucked and deserved to be bashed... but at the same time the manner in which he did belittled the program to some extent.

Entertaining anyway from my perspective.

I'm glad he did it.

Words out, Stoops and Mack Brown are already backing Gundy.  And apparently a lot of other coaches.

Gundy earned alot of respect with me for what he did.  I'm behind him 100% and I'm a die-hard OU fan.

People who back Gundy and against the author are getting their comments removed form her blog. Although comments today on "Gundy's outburst" are about 80% positive on the Daily Oklahoma site...

I sent Jenny an email just a bit ago.  It read:

"Way to go.  Nothing like ripping on college kids to tick off a coach.  Maybe you can start picking on the fine children of Pop Warner.

I hope you're fired.  I've read your stuff before, I've always found it to be mostly trash."

He could have used a little discipline. Minority view I'm sure among a sport dominated with trash talk and driven with anger. But going off in a tantrum was detrimental to the program regardless of whether she deserved a good talking to. I thought it was very unprofessional and he wasted a good opportunity to promote the great win they just accomplished. Bush league. A few well placed remarks would have done the job. And for heavens sake Gundy, the eighties are gone...get a haircut!

Perhaps the guy has heard the phrase, "Praise in public...criticize in private"?

She is awful at what she does....He could have handled it a little better...But with the spot he is in I'm sure some other frustrations came out.....But it's about time he acted like he cared just what was needed to unify that team.......Funny last week he said he didn't read the newspaper......O btw I'm no OSwho fan......

MichaelC

Supposedly, he still doesn't read the paper.  He said that article was brought to him by one of the players parents.

I've been ambivalent about Gundy.  This was a positive.  Showed some fire, he was right, coaches and players are sure to rally round him.  The AD has already said there's no issue here, Gundy has said that he wishes he "said more".  And if a potential recruit saw that, Gundy standing up for his players when they get smeared by the media, it probably won't hurt.

IF it's a negative, apparently no one that matters even a little bit, sees it that way.  OSU, and apparently every coaching staff in the nation, thought Gundy handled himself well enough.

I'm not a sports fanatic, but this story grabbed my curiosity.  The original newspaper piece was more like a gossip column.  Reporting rumors is hardly newsworthy, and when taken as a whole the story is little more than innuendo.

I think the coach had a legitimate beef.

But the real hoots are the comments under her story!  The one about it being yet another example of left wing reporting had me laughing out loud.
Ed

May you live in interesting times.

What's the big deal? It's only football!

<ducking>

Porky

She's a fool and Gundy is a bigger one by even replying to her.

Now let's get back to football......Gundy is a moron and needs the boot after the season is over. I'd say Coker or Nutt would be do justice. [^]

I am an OSU fan and have not been pleased with Gundy until this happened. Her column is complete BS meant to be inflammatory. I saw her on TV today backing her comments saying she was "just trying to find an explanation for the QB switch" then why did her entire column talk about how his mother fed him chicken and not much else.

Breadburner

Has anyone seen Mike Leach's comments after this game....?
