I was never able to get a Wii system for my son in town, so I'm getting him a PSP for his birthday in the meantime.

Will not go on Ebay and pay those sharks for something we can wait on[V]

Anywhooo...if you have the PSP can you give me some tips please?  I know nada about video game systems.

I see this one: Sony PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack (98891) and this one: Sony PSP Core System (98510).

Which is better?

Here's my tip, give your son values and respect for his fellow man. To heck with the Wii system, and let him buy his own Wii when he becomes a responsible adult.  Teach him the value of a $ and let him earn his own discretionary entertainment money.  That is the best lesson you can teach him.

Restored2x on here was willing to give one up for retail price. Surprised you haven't been able to get one yet.

There are tons out there:

I don't know about in local brick and mortar stores, but you can get them online for < $300 (see link above).  Given that they STILL can't keep them in stock, I'm surprised someone hasn't just raised the price until the problem is solved.  I understand profit is made from games in these systems, but if you can't make enough consoles that paradigm doesnt work.

My boy gets to play my N64 on Saturdays until I wake up (if he was good at school the preceding week).  I can't buy a new gaming system or I might not go to work.  I have a problem. [:P]

That's because I've been checking Best Buy, Circuit City.  We usually get the warranty on these things just in case.

I get what you're saying, but this kids is the type who does not ask for the latest electronic items.  I wanted to surprise him. He's still holding on to his PS2 but we have almost all the games so it's a challenge to get new ones for birthday/Christmas gifts.

My son does volunteer work at University Village or Autumn Park in Bixby. He also volunteers for MADD at times.  He wants to get into Gerontology.  One of the few young people nowadays who does not have the GIMME, GIMME syndrome.

Got the PSP at a bargain price!  Forgot hubby had a $150 dell gift card so he ordered it from them, and our cost is around $69 with tax, no shipping.  All is well.

Now Wii can wait for later on.
