Oh this thing is great. Got it hooked up to the blower on our furnace so we got the house at around 70-73 for now. Wife and baby boy are staying rather warm, able to power a the lights on the Christmas tree (really lights up the room well) and several other items. Even if the electricity comes on today the generator was still a good buy. I'm just kickin myself for not owning one before the SHTF.

I discovered kids like to sleep in the cold.  Just throw them in flannels and bury them with blankets and they will hibernate for a long time.

I "have" a 5000W generator I loaned to a friend about five years ago.  This is the third outage I've lived through w/o it.  Time to repo the generator, I think.  I got one loaned to me from someone at work who never lost power.
