Yeah, it took about an hour to Pryor back when I lived out south. It's about 45-50 minutes (or would be without the construction) from 15th and Harvard.
I just don't like the idea of having to get up that much earlier in the mornings, or take that much longer to get home after work.  But it is still something to think about.  I'll keep an eye on the progress as I work on my degree.

I've got a four hour round trip commute, but I only have to do it a few times a month. Oh how the Internet has changed my life..  :P

Wonder if I could talk Google into that kind of a setup

I'm not much of a morning person either.  Most of the time I started at 8:00 AM so getting up at 6:00 got me there on time.  I usually got home about 6:30 to avoid the bit of southbound 169 traffic from I-44 to Memorial.   It puts a lot of miles on the car too.

I remember doing similar in Houston.  My last job before moving back initially was just 7 miles from my home.  They moved offices closer to the center of town.  Changed my commute to 23 miles one way.  And it wasn't an easy 23 miles.  Usually 45 minutes in and 45 to an hour home.  Hard miles.  Stop and go on the freeway.  Damn sure don't miss it.

Maybe they wanted to reduce staffing levels but didn't have the guts to RIFF people.  Seems like an expensive way to do it though.

Doubtful.  This was early '93 and jobs were there for the taking.  They got a better lease agreement and the execs lived closer to the new office, which I bet is a big reason.  The ones I do know of that left either had jobs within the week, or had already lined up new positions.  Houston was a giant job trap back then.  If you couldn't find a job there back then, you were unemployable.  Period.

Plus, any of those who left were backfilled.
