Anyone ever had a phone repaired?  My iPhone got wet (dunked completely), at first it was toast, but it started working again, sort of.  It just displays an error message every few minutes or so.  I have insurance, but they want me to prove it's not repairable before they'll pay to replace.  Apple told me they won't touch it since it's liquid indicator is red.  I think I need a 3rd party repair person to look at it, just not sure who would be good.

Cellular Repair Center on the SOUTHEAST corner of 71st and Memorial. NOT the one on the NORTHEAST corner.

Is it an original or a 3G? The 3G's are much easier to repair but parts availability may be a problem.

best thing you can do is pull the battery and not turn it on till its dry - sounds like its too late for that.  Might just lay it on an air conditioning vent. I've heard folks say that dry rice is a good desiccant.   Get the battery out of it immediately and dry the thing out for a day or two and then try it out again.

Put it in a microwave oven for about 15 seconds.  It likely won't work again.

Not that I've ever done anything that dumb, of course.

May you live in interesting times.

If you don't want to go south.

They'll just put it in a dry box for a while and try to fire it up again.  I think thats about all you can do once its been wet.

Cell phones are normally just throw away products today when they stop working. We live in a world of throw-away items. When a TV set goes bad people just chucked them in the trash and buy another. (that was before the expensive plasma flat screens came around) The cost of repair is more than the cost of a new item. Hey~ I once dunked a cheap $3.00 calculator in a bucket of water, it sliped out of my top shirt pocket into the water bucket. It didn't work when it was wet, I let if fully dry and today it still works fine and that was about 2 years ago. It was in the water for only a second or so. Cell phones are much more complex though.. good luck.
