We are considering going south for Christmas week.  I've heard good things about Gulf Shores, AL.  Can anyone give some advice?  We are traveling with two of our dogs.

Thanks as always.

I would check out www.vrbo.com
It shows all the rentals, if they take pets, etc etc.

Good Luck

My parents and I have two condos there.  Great family oriented place.  My parents handle all the leasing through VRBO.com.  Not sure about whether or not they allow dogs, to be honest.

How much space do you need?  We have a one bedroom one bath (approx 800 s.f.) and a two bedroom two bath (approx. 1300 s.f.).

FYI, it won't exactly be beachy weather there at Christmas.  It'll be in the 40's and 50's.

I don't remember liking it that much.  Drive another hour or so to Navarre/Destin/Ft Walton for much better beaches.

We have been going to gulf shores every summer for the last 15+yrs.  At first we stayed in Condos on the beach in town but now we stay at the Beach Club   http://www.beachclubal.com/   or rent a house  http://www.vrbo.com/164513  if we take the dog.  The Beach Club and the house we stayed at is abut 13 to 15 miles outside of town on Fort Morgan Road, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go.  We take an ice chest and get around 75 lb. of shrimp when we go.  Check out Billys Sea Food, you can get shrimp with heads off or  (boat run heads on ) for about $2.65 a lb. you lose about 1/3 lb after removing the heads.  http://www.billys-seafood.com/   Check out VRBO, Kaiser and Meyer reality..

Gulf Shores is nice, but we always went further East to Perdido Key (right near the AL/FL border) or over the bridges from Pensacola to Santa Rosa island (Ft. Walton beach, Navarre).

I wonder how those beautiful sugar-white beaches look after all of the storms we've had over the past few years. I've seen some pics where many of the dunes I remember are completely gone. I've got to plan a trip down there soon. It's been quite a while, and I really miss the area.

Were just in Destin/Sandestin this past summer.  Beaches were stunning, as was the water...so blue it looked fake.
