I made it there about 5 minutes before close because they had shortened their hours. I got a cartload full before they turned the lights out. Today was their last day too. Their founder died in a car wreck a year ago and apparently F&M Bank pulled their line of credit the day after. They have been struggling to make it day-to-day ever since.

It's the whole company going under apparently. They will be sorely missed.

They went under before they went under....

Any other Sam's alternates out there?

well, looks like I'm going to have to spring for a sams membership now to get the things that were at fadlers.

The owner died and they yanked the line of credit....great confidence there F&M.  not surprised at anything those bastards do though after 71st/harvard.

Yeah, glad I don't bank there. Banks like to play like they are put upon by the economy yet they are known for pulling crap like this regularly.

Here's a way to save a few bucks at Sams. You can get a temporary membership for $10 and just stock up:

I wish some other foodservice vendor would allow public sales, though.

This offer may not be combined with any other offer or promotion and is valid October 17-19 and 24-26, 2008 only.

In a radio news piece this afternoon about the closing, they said they were closing due to "the poor economy and other competition."

Who is their competition?

Fadler's corporate shutdown. They compete with Sysco, Ben E Keith, etc. The market was just a public entrance to what is usually B2B only sales.
