I think Evangelical Christians, anti-abortionists, and all other 'social conservatives' should immediately quit the GOP and let that putrifying pile of pachyderm poop fester and DIE.  Let you checkered pants country club conservatives try and win a dog catcher election without them! Ha ha ha! Good luck! I hope you guys get what you want, and those far-right whackos leave you once and for all.  That would be so great!  O how I despise the GOP! Double-crossing backstabbing forked tongue devils!

Tell us what you really think Tim.

I like Huckabee as a commentator. He is witty and makes good points.

I disagree with his political views and will never forget the way he treated Oklahoma on the chicken waste issues. I think he has the perfect job now...political commentator on Fox News.
Power is nothing till you use it.

I'm sorry, but outside of the Bible Belt, these two players have no more chance to win the nomination than Pat Robertson did 20 years ago.

Comparing Huckabee to Pat Robertson is like comparing chicken marsala to a McDonald's cheeseburger.

If the Huckster can overcome the perceptual issue that comes with being a former preacher, he'll pull a Clinton. The public persona of both is very similar, and if he can keep from thumping the bible too much he could go far.

After all, he's a former Republican governor in a heavily Democratic state. He was elected Lt. Governor when the wingnutters in NW Arkansas were much less populous. (and he looks a lot better now that he's not so rotund)

Is AR actually heavily Democratic or are they just registered that way?  I only know a few folks from AR but they mostly don't talk Democratic party.

Very much so, although they're conservative Democrats. Hence Democrats holding essentially all elected positions in the state executive branch, 2 of 3 federal House seats, and both Senate seats.

Basically if you're not in Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District, there aren't a lot of Republicans to be found. Outside of Fayetteville in NW Arkansas (including Fort Smith), there aren't a lot of Democrats to be found, though. They elect morons like Jim Holt and Jim Bob Duggar.

I hate theocrats, and I've seen my share of them having lived in the part of Arkansas that seems to breed them for most of my life. Huckabee may talk like one, but when push comes to shove, he only walks the walk when politically necessary, despite his claiming to believe in biblical inerrancy and a bunch of other irrational things.

So they're Democrats by tradition more so than philosophy. I think it has something to do with the Carpetbaggers after the Civil War. If they moved to the N.E., the rust belt, or west coast, they would be borderline Republicans.

Close, but not really. Their main issue with the national Dems boil down to the three Gs. As far as social programs and what not, they're Dems.
